The popular Call Her Daddy podcast, hosted by Alex Cooper, has made its exclusive debut on Spotify - with special guest, comedian and best-selling author, Chelsea Handler.
Months ago, Spotify announced a multi-year exclusive agreement with Call Her Daddy, hosted by Alex Cooper. The deal will make Spotify the exclusive home for the series, including all back catalog and future episodes - the entire series, like all podcasts on Spotify, are now available to stream for free, so fans won't miss an episode.
“I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported, helped and been a part of ‘Call Her Daddy,'” Cooper said in a statement. “From its start three years ago, the show has always been about challenging the status quo and manifesting conversations that previously only happened behind closed doors.”
On the air since 2018, Call Her Daddy, has consistently been one of the highest-rated podcasts and was named the fifth most popular podcast streamed globally in Spotify’s 2020 Wrapped. The series features weekly episodes that offer raw, and often unfiltered conversations, exploring a full-spectrum of topics from the explicitly risqué to the amusingly entertaining personal stories - host Alex Cooper shares intimate details of her own personal life and amusing stories, while inviting experts and influential figures to do the same.
In addition to bringing the podcast to Spotify exclusively, the deal also covers all future episodes and additional exclusive new projects in development.
Spotify’s deal locking up “Call Her Daddy” brings another hugely popular podcast to its stable of shows, joining “The Joe Rogan Experience” and Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert.” Spotify also has signed exclusive deals with the Obamas and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for original podcasts. And it has acquired podcast companies Gimlet, Anchor, Parcast and Megaphone, as well as Bill Simmons’ The Ringer.
“We’re beyond excited to welcome ‘Call Her Daddy,’ one of the most wildly popular podcasts in the world, to Spotify,” Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s chief content and advertising business officer, said in a statement. “The level of enthusiasm and buzz from listeners generated after each episode is emblematic of the magic of the podcast. Alex connects with the millennial and Gen Z generations while empowering her audience to openly express themselves.”
Some highlights in the episode include:
7:57 - Alex shares the story of the first time she saw Chelsea live for her “Life Will Be the Death of Me” Tour
10:45 - Their shared roots in the Pennsylvania-NewJersey area & thoughts on Kate Winslet's “Mare of Eastown” accent
16:30 - Skiing topless and why Alex loves Chelsea’s vibe on social media
23:00 - Chelsea’s dating life and her solve for sexual frustration during COVID (Spoiler Alert: It involves giving your booty call an at-home COVID test)
25:27 - Both Alex and Chelsea share their experiences going through therapy
30:19 - How much they cringe listening to (and watching) old content they recorded
34:09 - The worst performance of Chelsea’s career that turned into her biggest opportunity
37:05 - Chelsea’s experience with and advice for taking Ayahuasca (and other recreational drugs)
