Esther Perel Returns To The Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard

It could be the Super Bowl of "talkers." And not just any "talkers," but real pros. These are people who "converse" while listening intently, discussing complex issues, and forging consensus with each other and the audience.

In this week’s episode of Armchair Expert, the podcast features the return of New York Times bestselling author, world renowned therapist, and award-winning podcast executive producer/ host of How’s Work? and Where Should We Begin? on Spotify, Esther Perel.

During the episode, Perel talks with host Dax Shepard to talk about how social boundaries were affected during the Covid-19 pandemic, how helping people during this time helped her feel less anxious herself, and her thoughts on how people re-entered society after the lockdown ended.

In the episode, Perel explains the difference between fidelity, exclusivity, and loyalty when it comes to romantic relationships, how confirmation bias plays a role in how you deal with people you live with, and that you should be thankful more often to loved ones for things they do for you.

As a bonus, Perel, Shepard, and co-host Monica Padman play Perel’s new card game, Where Should We Begin - A Game of Stories.

For those who may not know, Armchair Expert is a weekly podcast hosted by American actor, director, and writer Dax Shepard and Emmy-nominated Monica Padman. Each podcast features Shepard and Padman interviewing celebrities as well as journalists and academics about "the messiness of being human." The podcast premiered February 14, 2018, with Shepard's wife, actress Kristen Bell, as the first guest.

Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert floats at a higher altitude of quality than the typical celebrity podcast. Shepard and his co-host Padman do manage to elevate the discourse on the podcast well above the social media oversharing that often masquerades as intriguing conversation.

Armchair Expert was the most downloaded new podcast of 2018 on iTunes.

Shepard's stated goal is to give people the "experience of an AA meeting without them having to become a drunk". He states that he is qualified to host a podcast from his "decade of sobriety, degree in Anthropology, and four years of improv training."

Spotify just announced a multiyear exclusive license agreement with the Armchair Expert podcast, co-hosted by actor, filmmaker and comedian Dax Shepard and Emmy-nominated producer and personality Monica Padman.
