This week, CNN Audio premiered the first episodes of several podcasts from its fall lineup.
Here are the details below.
Season 2 of Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta premiered.
Season 2, Episode 1: Chasing a Cure
Grief is something we all experience at different stages of life, even more so during this pandemic. But what happens when you must mourn the loss of your own child? CNN journalists Andrew Kaczynski and René Marsh received terrible diagnoses within months of each other: their infant children had brain tumors.
Yet in the midst of great tragedy, they found strength in chasing a cure for others. So in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Sanjay Gupta shares the great strides being made in the fight against pediatric cancer through the passionate commitment of parents, doctors and healthcare advocates.
Total Recall: California’s Political Circus with Dana Bash premieres
Season 1, Episode 1: Welcome to the Circus
You probably remember that Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California. But do you remember how it all happened? The blackouts, the budget and of course, the car tax! CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent, Dana Bash, takes you back to the origins of the 2003 California Recall and talks with Schwarzenegger and the man he beat, Gray Davis to learn why this election became such a circus
Season 2 of The Handoff with Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon debuts
The Handoff is now available for free on all podcast platforms.
It's
clear that CNN has developed a stand-alone content and business
strategy for its podcasts that does not simply mirror its TV content.
That's a positive sign. Further, the podcasts mentioned enable CNN to
excel at what it really does best and not enough of: investigative
journalism.
Finally, these shows potentially remove CNN from all
the "teeth-grinding grievance grunts" who screamed fake news at CNN for
the last few years due to its political reporting. It could still
happen, but because of the quality of the reporting on these upcoming
shows, that catcall projects more unremitting anger than any reasonable
media criticism.
