True Crime Podcast “To Live and Die LA” And Host Neil Strauss Raise Reward Fund To $250,000 And Debut New Song
The season finale of “To Live and Die in LA,” which investigates the disappearance of 20-year-old California woman Elaine Park who went missing in 2017, debuted a new song in its two-part finale.
Park’s case was the focus of season two of the podcast series, where host Neil Strauss set out to uncover what happened after Park left her ex-boyfriend’s Calabasas home and her Honda Civic was discovered five days later in Malibu with the doors unlocked, the keys in the ignition, and all of her personal belongings still in the car.
Throughout the season, which received tens of millions of downloads, listeners were given an intimate look into Park’s personality through her social media, text exchanges, and recorded rapping. Her writings and lyrics revealed Park’s love for music and helped listeners understand more about her aspirations in life. The song “Look Up to the Light'' uses Park’s own lyrics - and voice - and is featured in part two of the final episode.
Incubus guitarist and songwriter, Mike Einziger, teamed up with vocalist and California native, Zacari (known for his work with Kendrick Lamar), for the newly released song, available only on the podcast. Einziger joined host Neil Strauss this season to investigate Park’s disappearance, which has impacted their close-knit Malibu community.
The “To Live and Die in LA” franchise launched its first season February of 2018, when an aspiring actress vanished from her Hollywood apartment. New York Times best-selling author and Rolling Stone writer Neil Strauss was asked to help the family get answers.
Neil Strauss is a ten-time New York Times best-selling author; a contributing editor at Rolling Stone; and a former music critic, cultural reporter, and columnist at The New York Times, where he won the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award for excellence in music journalism.
“To Live and Die in LA” is distributed by Cadence 13, an Audacy company.
Season one investigated the tragic death of aspiring Hollywood actress Adea Shabani and has been credited with helping to solve her case. The podcast was named Associated Press’s Top Podcast of 2019 and has cracked over 50 million downloads.
The award-winning true-crime podcast returned on May 27 for season two investigating the case of young California woman, Elaine Park — unraveling the baffling and tragic case that started Neil Strauss down the rabbit hole of true crime investigation, along with his wife and his neighbors, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger, and concert violinist Ann Marie Simpson. “To Live and Die in LA” is distributed by Cadence 13, an Audacy company.
The podcast has helped to raise awareness to Elaine Park’s case and increased the reward for information leading to Elaine Park’s whereabouts to $250,000 until the end of the year. The case is still ongoing, and the reward can be collected anonymously.
