Ten Percent Happier To Start Its Own Podcast Studio

With the help of Jen Poyant, former Executive Producer at WNYC Studios and cofounder of Stable Genius Productions, and Kimmie Regler, former Senior Producer at Gimlet Media, Ten Percent Happier is developing a wide range of podcast shows that will take a unique look into relatable wisdom and serve as another tent pole of support for the Ten Percent Happier audience.

The first studio show to launch will be Childproof, a new podcast hosted by Yasmeen Khan that explores stories of the foundational relationships between parents and children, and how to learn the skills of mindful parenting.

Ten Percent Happier was started by ABC News reporter Dan Harris.

Harris has assembled an impressive at ABC. He joined ABC News in 2000. He anchored World News Sunday from 2006 to 2011 and frequently anchored World News, ABC World News Tonight weekend editions and Nightline. Not only that, but he also anchored ABC's coverage of Hurricane Katrina in September 2005. In October 2010, he was named the new co-anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America. In October 2013, he was named a co-anchor for Nightline, succeeding Bill Weir.

In August 2021, Harris announced that he would be leaving ABC News to focus on his meditation company, which is Ten Percent Happier. He retired from ABC News on September 26, 2021.

After having a nationally televised panic attack, Dan Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists.

Eventually, Harris realized that the source of his problems was the very thing he always thought was his greatest asset: the incessant, insatiable voice in his head, which had propelled him through the ranks of a hyper-competitive business, but had also led him to make the profoundly stupid decisions that provoked his on-air freak-out.

Eventually Harris stumbled upon an effective way to rein in that voice, something he always assumed to be either impossible or useless: meditation, a tool that research suggests can do everything from lower your blood pressure to essentially rewire your brain.

In 2014, 10% Happier was published - part memoir, part how-to - and turned into a surprise #1 New York Times bestseller. That book led to the Ten Percent Happier podcast (now in the top five in the Health category), and a meditation app that teaches fidgety skeptics how to meditate.
