In 2019, when the “Modern Love” podcast was brought in-house, column creator Daniel Jones and editor Miya Lee became its new co-hosts. Over their two seasons at the helm, Dan and Miya brought listeners many engaging and delightful conversations with the the column’s authors.
The Modern Love brand has expanded into new spaces such as international television, books and live events. The brand is also aiming to increase the ambitions of the podcast and produce more episodes each year.
Dan Jones and Miya Lee will remain engaged with the podcast both on air and behind the scenes.
Anna Martin, a producer on Audio’s Shows team, will immediately step into the role, and will also produce the show. Martin joined The New York Times last year and has proven herself to be both a skilled producer and an empathetic interviewer.
“I’m thrilled about this role, because it allows me to professionally explore something I already think about all the time. That is: love, in its messiness and multiplicity and mystery. I’m so looking forward to being part of a team that brings stories about what it means to love, and be loved, to our listeners,” said Anna Martin.
Before coming to The Times, Anna was a senior producer at Pop-Up Magazine, where she worked as both a producer and a host. Before that, she was a fellow at “This American Life” and a producer at “The Moth.”
“I’m so excited to have Anna come on board,” said Daniel Jones. “She has all the skills, smarts and heart to lead the “Modern Love” podcast into the future and to deliver on what the show has always done best: Make people feel things.”
Anna will be joining a team headed by senior producer Hans Buetow, along with editor Sara Sarasohn and producer Julia Botero. Wendy Dorr will remain the executive producer on the project.
