Vox's Today, Explained podcast just celebrated its 1,000th episode, which is a significant achievement for a podcast that delves so deeply into a wide array of topics.
Vox's Today Explained has spawned several connected Netflix series, and countless copycats. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Today Explained is held in high esteem in the podcasting community.
Vox also chose to introduce Noel King as co-host of Today, Explained on the date of the show's 1000th episode.
Listen to the episode here and revisit some Vox's curated stories over the years that have helped bring understanding to the complexities of the world:
- Aging in America: By 2035, there will be more elderly people than children in America. The country isn’t ready.
- Achy Breaky Charts: “Old Town Road” officially became the most popular song in America today. But it’s also the most controversial.
- Unraveling Roe: A vital exploration of how the Court could undo Roe v. Wade without overruling it.
- The Four-Day Workweek: The pandemic has changed how we think about work. Vox’s Anna North says it might be time to change how much we work, too. (See below for the real-world impact of this episode!)
"While this feels like an opportunity to look back, I can't help
but look ahead. With Noel King joining the show as co-host, we can
continue to grow our creative and journalistic ambitions while cranking
out the daily news bangers our audience has come to expect."
- Sean Rameswaram, Vox Audio Creative Director & Co-Host of Today, Explained
