For fans of New York Magazine's Cover Story: Power Trip, all will be revealed in the season one finale.
The episode is accompanied by exclusive, never-before-seen footage from FDA clinical trials for psychedelic therapy conducted by MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies). The woman in the video is named Meaghan Buisson – a former Olympic speed skater who, on paper, was marked as one of the clinical trial’s success stories. In reality, she felt worse than ever. Note that the video is sensitive and disturbing.
Is psychedelic therapy ready for the masses? Over the course of ten episodes, this is the question Cover Story explored in its first season. The show began underground, taking a closer look at some of the movement’s leaders, and scrutinizing a culture that has historically swept both sexual and psychological abuses under the rug. In episodes six and seven, the show turned its eye toward the official institutions responsible for shepherding psychedelics into the mainstream, examining protected legal and medical documents, and uncovering underreported negative side effects, exaggerated benefits, lack of adequate oversight on research sites, and more.
The show’s first season is available on Apple or Spotify, with transcripts from each episode available at The Cut.
If you're a fan, do not miss the finale. If you have not listened to the show, I recommend you check it out.
It's one trip you'll never forget.
