Are You Sleeping Podcast Debuts
In celebration of World Sleep Day, Mattress Firm released its first-ever podcast series in partnership with Vox Media’s award-winning brand studio Vox Creative titled, “Are You Sleeping?” The 10-episode podcast series launched its first episode on April 1 and showcases unique stories and community-sourced questions to better understand why sleep matters.
When was World Sleep Day? I must have slept through it.
Female Podcast Listenership Grows
Since 2018, the number of female podcast listeners has increased by 76 percent. There has been a 41 percent increase in female podcast listenership since the beginning of the pandemic. The growth of podcast engagement also shows no signs of slowing down, as a recent Nielsen survey found that 61 percent of paid streaming audio subscribers plan to increase their podcast consumption over the next 12 months.
I'm sure that there will be men who complain that podcast listenership is another area where women are outperforming men. Cheer up, guys. You're still leading in The Art Of Manliness podcast listenership 95-5 percent.
New Podcast Awards Announced
The Ambies were just held where achievement awards were given out. The Ambies celebrate excellence in podcasting and elevate awareness and status of podcasts as a unique and personal medium for entertainment, information, storytelling and expression.
In an unadultered sign of award envy, the executives behind the annual Webby Awards will celebrate the world of podcasting with the inaugural Signal Awards.
