The Journal.’s three episode miniseries on Russian Hacking is tied to an investigation led by Wall Street Journal reporter Robert McMillan and features former Russian cyber criminal Dmitry Smilyanets.
Smilyanets was involved in some of the biggest financial hacks until being caught by the CIA and becoming an informant. Since then, he has worked in the private sector and primarily focuses on addressing ransomware. He has never told his personal story…until now. The series explores what it takes to become a Russian hacker, what happens when a hacker is at the top of their game, and what it takes to take down a hacker.
Wall Street Journal reporter Bob McMillan has spent years trying to find a Russian hacker who would tell him their story.
