Halloween Podcasts For Your Ear's Most Terrifying Fears!

What would Halloween be without some scary podcasts that can get you into - and nestle you -- in the mood for Halloween? After all, broadcast TV -- what's left of it -- trots out its Halloween episodes on its sitcoms and dramas.

Podcast, almost all grown up, should get in on that act.

And it has.

First. Arielle Nissenblatt, founder and producer of EarBuds Podcast Collective, has released her weekly recommendations' newsletter, and it's full of Halloween-themed podcasts.

EarBuds Podcast Collective has an extensive, six-year archives of podcast recommendations. The recommendations are organized by year and then by topic. They are easily searchable. Every week on Sunday, Arielle sends a recommendation newsletter to her mail list with podcasts curated by a different listener. Or you can simply go to EarBuds Podcast Collective and click on Podcast Recommendations.

To quote the newsletter: "Five podcast episodes on a theme, each week curated by a different person."

This week, Arielle's recommendations, curated by Anita Flores, include Earwolf's 2 Spooky 2 Handle, Atlas Obscura, which ranks all 13 movies in the Halloween franchise, and in How Did This Get Made, the three co-hosts discuss the film Dracula 2000, focusing on Gerard Butler's performance as Dracula, old-timey booby traps, and the incredible performance of Jennifer Esposito

And if you have a taste for a cult classic, try a just-released Halloween special episode based on true scary stories Radio Rental, hosted by Terry Carnation (actor Rainn Wilson of The Office). Carnation is the shopkeeper of a creepy 80s style video rental store. This episode tells the true tales of a village ghost, and a woman who gets out of the shower to find an unknown message written on her mirror.

You can listen to the episode HERE

Also check out Haunted Places: Ghost Stories for year-round scariness. Every Thursday, host Alastair Murden tells a different bone-chilling ghost story (that you’ve probably never heard of). It’ll feel like you’re sitting around a campfire and hearing a story from your most entertaining friend—and it’ll leave you feeling scared every week.

One of the more enduring and now classic "scary" podcasts is Last Podcast On The Left.  Described as covering “all the horrors our world has to offer, both imagined and real, from demons and slashers to cults and serial killers,” The Last Podcast On The Left truly has something that will interest everyone. With over 400 hour-plus long episodes on every spooky scenario you can imagine, you can scroll through the episode titles and choose whatever you’re feeling on each day.

As William Shakespeare said in The Tempest: “Hell is empty and all the devils are here.”
