Fame is the currency of celebrity. Famous people are well-known for who they are, not necessarily for what they can do. By contrast, an icon transcends mere notoriety. Webster's Dictionary defines an icon "as a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration."
Icons not only raise their individual status, but also can elevate the relevance and value of the culture to which they belong. Icons attract adulation and attention bot only from their culture, but also from all cultures. In effect, they are unifiers who act to make inclusion seem natural and necessary.
On that note, Sonoro Media is set to launch Becoming an Icon, a show that chronicles the lives of Latinx artists who have left an indelible mark through the sustained brilliance of their careers. It’s hosted by Lilliana Vazquez, the first and only Latina to host E! News, a TODAY contributor, and an Access Hollywood correspondent, and Joseph Carillo, a highly-successful and sought-after celebrity makeup artist.
The show premieres on February 22nd and features an interview with chart-topping and award-winning artist Bad Bunny

This podcast brings listeners on a sonic exploration of various genre-defining stars, like Shakira, Rita Moreno, Bad Bunny, and more.
This new podcast will chart the paths and trails these unique
artists have blazed on their way to global fame. The first episode, released on February 22, will spotlight musical artist Bad Bunny.
Benito Antonio MartÃnez Ocasio, known professionally as Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. His breakthrough came in 2018 with his feature on Cardi B's number-one song "I Like It" alongside J Balvin, and his top-ten song "Mia" featuring Drake. Bad Bunny's second album YHLQMDLG was released on February 29, 2020, and became the highest-charting all-Spanish album, reaching number two on the Billboard 200.
Like all icons, Bad Bunny is well known for his humanitarian activism. Openly critical of the lack of humanitarian aid in the wake of Hurricane Maria, which devastated the island of Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny established the Good Bunny Foundation, which distributes toys to children living in poverty in Puerto Rico.
Becoming An Icon was developed and produced by Sonoro, which is a global entertainment company focused on creating premium, culturally relevant content that starts in audio and comes alive in TV, film, and beyond. Sonoro collaborates with leading and emerging Latinx storytellers – writers, producers, and directors – from over a dozen countries to develop original franchises in English, Spanish, and Spanglish.
Along the way to being a co-founder of Sonoro and an innovator in podcasting, Camila Victoriano has overcome challenges such as being a woman in podcasting where only 29 percent of podcasts are run by women; being Latino in a still white male-dominated culture, and proving that a liberal arts major can develop and operate a successful business.
In a recent interview, Victoriano discussed developing content via Sonoro: "We understood that there was a large gap in the market between the Latinx community around the world (which is growing steadily – we are becoming a "majority-minority" here in the US) and how rarely we see ourselves (or hear ourselves) in the content we consume."
Victoriano observed: "For me, it was obvious that there needed to be a company exclusively focused on empowering Latinx creators to tell stories across genres. That way, the diversity of the community would be reflected in the characters of our shows, and our content could be enjoyed by listeners all over the world."
Sonoro's other podcast hits include Love And Noraebang, The Princess Of South Beach, Tejana, and Toxicomania.
Check out Becoming An Icon on February 22nd.
