Killing Dad Podcast premieres with two episodes

Audio Up’s newest podcast, Killing Dad: A First-Degree has made its worldwide debut with first two episodes. A 2014 headline said it all at the time the Crystal Howell murder case exploded into public view; “Teen kills dad, stuffs his body in a storage bin, buys stripper pole, and hosts parties.” Although these were, and still are, startling facts of the now infamous case of Crystal Howell, there’s so much more to the story.

For the past nine years, since she was just 17, Howell has been incarcerated in prison.  Now 26-years old, she is telling her story for the first time exclusively to journalists Melissa McCarty and Kelly McLear in a new 10-part podcast series, Killing Dad: A First-Degree Mistake, produced by Audio Up and distributed by Audio Boom.

Killing Dad: A First-Degree Mistake includes exclusive prison interviews with Crystal that ‘tell-all’; including first-hand accounts from her best friends who discovered the body and lived at the house after her father was killed. Plus, the shocking revelation of an accomplice who helped dispose of Michael Howell’s body.

Listeners will hear horrific family secrets and eye-opening interviews with friends and family who put this twisted-tale into a new perspective, along with new evidence and information that throws the callous killer title into question. Howell is currently serving 30-years to Life on a plea deal, a Draconian sentence for a juvenile, and the series dives into the legal aspect of her case with famed former California prosecutor Matt Murphy, a world renowned child psychologist and the Haywood County District Attorney, who is speaking publicly for the first time.

Killing Dad: A First-Degree Mistake, is produced by Audio Up and distributed by Audio Boom, and will make its worldwide premiere beginning with episodes 1 & 2 across all podcast platforms.

Best iHeart Podcasts of the week

The iHeart Podcast Network is like the opening to Dickens' A Tale Of Two Cities. "It was the best of the times. It was the worst of times."

The large network contains some of the best and -- let's say least best, to be kind -- podcasts in the industry. Here's three you should enjoy.

No Autographs, Please!: As part of the Big Money Players slate, hosts, podcast superstars and best friends Arden Myrin and Bryan Safi are on a mission to knock your socks off with this hybrid improv comedy and chat show. Every week they talk hot pop culture gossip and more. Then they take your real dating stories and improvise them with a fabulous special celebrity guest, ending in a reveal of how it actually went down. Check out new episodes of “No Autographs, Please!” every Friday.

Mind the Business: Small Business Success Stories: iHeartPodcasts and InTuit have teamed up to release “Mind the Business” – a podcast that aspires to help small business owners nationwide find success. Hosted by personal finance influencer and investor Austin Hankwitz and creator and host of the award-winning personal finance podcast “Yo Quiero Dinero” Jannese Torres, “Mind the Business: Small Business Success Stories” will share insights to help small business owners and entrepreneurs succeed. Find new episodes of “Mind the Business: Small Business Success Stories” every other Thursday. To me, this podcast is like a "smarter Shark Tank."

Wrestling with Freddie: Listeners can tune in to the third season of the show with hosts Freddie Prinze Jr., producer, author and star of Scooby-Doo franchise, and touring comedian, actor and Bigfoot enthusiast Jeff Dye, as they continue to pull the curtain back on the world of pro wrestling. Don’t miss their weekly conversations as the two break down the current state of pro wrestling from WWE, AEW and the independent scene. It’s a podcast loved by all wrestling fans – from those who love to cheer for a heel or mark for the baby face. Tune in for the season three premiere of Wrestling with Freddie today, with new episodes Wednesdays. I know it sounds ridiculous, but somehow it works!
