Pod-Alization: Scary Video Rental Store Podcast; Latinas Take The Lead Podcast

Radio Rental podcast creepy stories are back

There are many ways to present the paranormal in podcasting. Some of the best include And That's Why We Drink, Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked, and Lore

One of the best with an unusual premise and terrific host is Radio Rental.

The paranormal podcast based on real stories, “Radio Rental,” is back for a new season.

Here is the video teaser, which offers a preview of some of this season’s episodes.

Radio Rental is hosted by Terry Carnation (Rainn Wilson), the shopkeeper of a fictional 80s style video rental store, which holds a secret collection of VHS tapes detailing the scariest stories - all told by the people who lived to experience them in real life. In each episode of this cult classic from Tenderfoot TV, Terry Carnation reveals some of the terrifying stories on these tapes, blurring the lines between documentary storytelling, horror, and comedy.

For those unaware of VHS tapes, VHS (short for Video Home System) is a standard for consumer-level analog video recording on tape cassettes invented in 1976 by the Victor Company of Japan and was the competitor to the ill-fated Sony Betamax system.

In short, it's Boomer technology. Groundbreaking at the time. And it's the setup for some of the creepiest stories you'll hear.

HERE is the first new episode, and new episodes premiere weekly, and subscribers to Tenderfoot+ get new episodes one week early.

Check out Radio Rental for no other reason than Wilson is just wild in this role.

Latinas Take The Lead podcast could be for you

Podcasting has the ability to address groups that have largely been ignored by mass media. Some of these groups are small in number, but still deserve attention. For example, there is a podcast about people who pierce their nipples. There are several podcasts about the coming "Deep State" invasion and takeover, with specific instructions on how to transform your walk-in closet into a shelter, machine gun nest, and coffee bar.

iHeart has a podcast that addresses the needs of a large group still underserved by mass media. It's called Latinas Take The Lead.

Through fun yet intimate and revealing conversations, Latinas Take The Lead, hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist Naibe Reynoso, dives into issues modern Latinas face.

"There are 29.6 million Latinas in the U.S., but many times they feel left out of the conversation. To help understand how Latinas navigate two worlds whose cultures and values sometimes clash, Naibe Reynoso interviews trailblazers like astronaut Katya Echazarreta, entrepreneurs like Sandra Velasquez founder of Nopalera, award-winning authors like Reyna Grande, leaders in the community and more".

As the podcast says: "Latinas are the 200 percenters': 100 percent American and 100 percent Latina. It’s about time."

In the April 11th episode, host Reynoso interviews Katya Echazarreta, who is a Mexican electrical engineer and Citizen Astronaut and Activist. In the episode, she shares with listeners how she is helping change the landscape of space exploration in Mexico, and how she learned to navigate unfamiliar territory by using her voice.

Fascinating stuff. Listen to Latinas Take The Lead.
