Pod-Alization: Frozen Podcast; Dr. Seuss Podcast: Late Night Hosts announce "Strike" Podcast

Disney announces Frozen Podcast to be released this fall
This is big. Elsa, Anna, and Olaf are coming to podcasting. Not since Joe Rogan and a guest claimed that wooly mammoth bones and tusks were dumped in New York City's East River in the 1940s has news been this momentous. The difference this time? It's accurate.

Released by Disney Publishing Worldwide, ABC Audio and Walt Disney Animation Studios, Frozen as a new storytelling audio series will arrive in the fall as the first film celebrates its 10th release anniversary and as “Frozen III” is in the works.

The podcast -- “Frozen: Forces of Nature” -- will take place after the events of “Frozen II” and prior to “Frozen III.” Listeners will meet Queen Disa, ruler of a small neighboring nation to Arendelle; Lord Wolfgang, the Duke of Weselton’s nephew; and reunite with Anna and Elsa as they work to solve a mystery in the Enchanted Forest.

Here is a plot summary from Deadline:

Queen Anna has a lot on her plate. She has welcomed Disa, the Queen of the small neighboring nation and her people to Arendelle when their kingdom is flooded. Disa is eager to learn about the scientific nature of magic.

Also in Arendelle is Lord Wolfgang, the Duke of Weselton’s nephew, on an apology tour for his uncle’s behavior. He very much wants to secure Queen Anna’s forgiveness and hopes to convince the people of Arendelle of the merits of trade with Weselton.

When a mysterious fire happens at the castle and the Spirits of Nature start acting up Elsa, Anna, and Disa travel to the Enchanted Forest to uncover the cause, where they discover mysterious steam-powered copper machines: automatons.

Where do the automatons come from and what are they doing? Who is directing them? Most importantly, how do Elsa, Anna, and Disa stop them from upsetting the natural balance of the Enchanted Forest and Arendelle?

Wondery to introduce Dr. Seuss podcasts

When podcast network (owned by Amazon) was asked "Do you like Green Eggs and Ham, they responded, "Like hell we do, if they can make us money.

That's why Dr. Seuss Enterprises has teamed with Wondery Kids & Family on a new slate of podcasts, beginning with a variety show inspired by one of Seuss’ most beloved titles, The Cat in the Hat.

The deal, which was announced earlier this week, will see both companies adapt some of literature’s most recognizable children’s IP into a full lineup of podcast programming. That begins with the September 18th premiere of The Cat in the Hat Cast, described by the companies as a “fantastical variety show-style podcast series” hosted by the memorable red-and-white-hat–wearing cat.

“The works of Dr. Seuss have resonated with readers of all ages for generations, and the books promote the importance of staying curious and using your imagination,” Susan Brandt, CEO and president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, said in a statement. “Wondery Kids & Family has an incredible vision for how to bring to life our characters and stories in podcasting form. We believe this collaboration not only builds upon Dr. Seuss’s incredible legacy but also plays a key part of our bigger entertainment strategy for the Dr. Seuss franchise.”

Additional series inspired by the worlds of Dr. Seuss will be announced in the coming weeks. No word yet if Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will announce that The Lorax is woke.

Five Late-Night Hosts announce limited-series podcast

The Hosts Will Give All Proceeds to Their Out-of-Work Staff

Five late-night hosts, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver, have teamed up with Spotify for “Strike Force Five,” an all-new limited series podcast that will bring together this exclusive group as they navigate the Hollywood strikes and beyond.

“Strike Force Five” will launch Wednesday, August 30, on Spotify, and everywhere you get your podcasts. The limited series will run for at least twelve episodes, with all hosts participating in each episode while rotating who leads the conversation.

When the WGA strike started in May of this year, this group of suddenly unemployed talk show hosts gathered via the miracle of Zoom. Their idea was to meet every week to discuss the serious issues a work stoppage creates. What happened instead was a series of hilarious and compelling conversations. Now, Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers and Oliver invite you to listen in on their once-private chats on this all-new podcast.

All proceeds received by the hosts from “Strike Force Five” will go to out-of-work staff from the hosts’ respective shows, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.”

Strike Force Five” will be supported by Mint Mobile and Diageo (Aviation American Gin, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, Casamigos, and Ketel One Vodka), who were first to come aboard to support the show as co-presenting sponsors.

Apparently, these sponsors know something about the drinking habits of late-night show fans.
