Latest Episode of Seraphina Speaks: Accepting And Celebrating Our Differences

In the latest episode of the podcast, Seraphina Speaks, the host talks about "Being happy to be different."

Now, I know that there are multiple podcasts, TV shows, articles, and social media posts extolling the virtues of being different. Yet, the host of  Seraphina Speaks is an 11-year-old girl from England. With her "mum's" assistance and guidance, she's been recording this podcast since she was seven years old.

Please read the notes on this episode. Then, ask yourself this question. How can an 11-year-old girl from England make more sense than many Americans?

"Accepting and celebrating our differences helps us get comfortable in our own skin. But if you’ve ever felt like YOU were the problem, that you were different, and things would be easier if you changed to 'fit in' then this episode is a gift for you."

"In the Main Episode and the Behind The Scenes Bulletin, you’ll learn about":
• What being different means and what the opposite of this is
• Why people try to not be different
• What Herd Mentality is
• The two biggest costs of trying to be someone we’re not
• Why being HAPPY with our differences is essential
• How we decide to be ourselves rather than conform
• The first steps towards being at peace in ourselves
• My neurodiversity and how this links to being happy to be different

I’ve listened to the episodes posted on February 1, and Seraphina made me realize that wisdom is not related to age and experience. Instead, wisdom is a product of vision, acceptance, and understanding, regardless of age.

While this young, prescient girl presents a strong case for the virtues of being different and accepting those differences, we have Americans attempting to vilify LGBTQ+ citizens and people of color, while denying the scourge of slavery in our nation's history.

If Seraphina is indicative of the generation that will one day rule the world, I feel comforted that she is only one of many who are socially aware, embrace diversity and inclusion, empathize with those who are disadvantaged, and determined to make the world a better place for all.

Asked about her future, Seraphina says: "I want to make a difference. I'm testing the water about how I will do that. It will involve my voice and has to be something I enjoy. That means something in the media that challenges the way the world is."

Read that quote again. Seraphina wants to challenge the way the world is. Listen to many Americans, and they talk about "Going back to the way it was. The good old days." You know -- when whites dominated, blacks knew their place, and LGBTQ+ people stayed in their closet. Ozzie & Harriet. Jim Crow. Women in a subservient role. Ah, the good times!

Check out Seraphina Speaks. The views, dreams, and aspirations of an 11-year-old girl can help all of us shed our confirmation bias, escape the echo chamber of media hate-mongering, and celebrate differences within our society.
