Podcaster Profiles To Debut Next Week: Exploring Excellence In The (Indie) Podcasting Community

The people that manage and run the Ear Worthy podcast review, recommendation and trend publication decided that they could do even more damage to podcasting by creating a second publication.

So they did. It's called Podcaster Profiles. What is Podcaster Profiles, you ask (Note: Even if you didn't ask, we are going to pretend you did for the purpose of continuing this article).

Podcaster Profiles has a simple goal: highlight, spotlight, focus on: the indie podcasters who are the heart and soul of podcasting.

Indie podcasters wear more hats than any network-supported podcaster. They are creator, writer, producer, sound engineer, I.T. troubleshooter, researcher, host, distribution pro, marketing guru, public relations professional, and, most important of all, financial backer for the podcast.

In early July, a panel of Ear Worthy contributors convened a meeting and named the winners of the first annual Ear Worthy Independent Podcast Awards, AKA The Earlobes.

After that meeting, we wanted to do more for independent podcasters, so we devised a new method for recognizing and rewarding the high caliber of their podcasts.

People we may profile may not all be the hosts or co-hosts you hear on the shows you listen to. They could be sound engineers, producers, writers, voice actors, and more.

Sometimes, we may even recognize a podcaster who's attached to a network but has put the sweat equity in the podcast and is engaged in the podcasting community.

The format of these articles will have some structure. After all, we're not heathens or anarchists. Rules must be preserved. For example, please wash your hands after reading this article.

In each article, we'll ask the person being profiled why they became involved in podcasting, how did they become skilled, review your public bio, tell us something not in your public bio, any passions other than podcasting, your future plans in podcasting, and, in addition to their own podcast, if they were trapped on a desert island with wifi for a year, what three other podcasts would they download and listen to.

We will not ask their favorite color, questions about the shape of the Earth (it's round, people), or their sleeping position (back, side, or stomach).

We think it's a fun and informative way for listeners to connect with their favorite indie podcast creators, hosts, and other creatives.

When will Podcaster Profiles be released? How often? Again, even if you didn't ask, we will pretend you did.

Podcaster Profiles will be published once a month beginning the week of September 2. Initially, we will be focusing on the winners of the Ear Worthy Independent Podcast Awards, AKA The Earlobes.

Our first profile will be with Aileen Merciel and Glenda Pacanins from the Surfing Corporate podcast.
