Arts Educators Save The World Coming Back With New Episodes

ARTS EDUCATORS SAVE THE WORLD is a weekly podcast that brings successful artists together in conversation with their mentors.

The podcast describes how teachers, especially art teachers, became mentors for notable people.

Season One of the show welcomed guests such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Robert Lopez, Josh Radnor, Annaleigh Ashford, and more.

ARTS EDUCATORS SAVE THE WORLD returns on November 14 with brand-new episodes that showcase successful artists in
conversation with their mentors. The show will transition from seasonal to always-on, kicking off with none other than Jonathan Groff and his mentor and elementary school music teacher, Linda Tuff.

Jonathan and Linda’s conversation is a testament to the power of early education and hard work, and a celebration of joy and imagination through music.

They reminisce about early plays together, the magic of learning to love learning, and the many techniques that Jonathan learned decades ago in Tuff’s class that he continues to use today.

“It is not your job requirement to teach life. That was your choice. That was what you brought into that room and into all of our lives. That is what changes our lives and changes who we are as a world, as a society,” says Groff of Tuff.

This episode, as are all the others in this series, is a true testament to the power of a committed, passionate arts educator on the entire life of their students.

Host Erica Rosenfeld Halverson brings a passion for arts and the life-long impact arts education to the podcast and her own teaching. She is Professor of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of How the Arts Can Save Education: Transforming Teaching, Learning, and Instruction, outlining
how we can fix our broken system of schooling by reimagining teaching and learning using the arts.

Halversen says: “I am thrilled to have this platform to share stories about why arts education is so crucial to our education landscape - all of these artists and educators remind us that making art together is what makes us human!”

Halverson does some heavy lifting here as the host. She's an excellent host who infects listeners with her enthusiasm and passion.

Arts Educators Save the World provides concrete reasons for hope during these challenging and divisive times. These conversations recenter listeners on the importance of creativity and art, acting and dancing and music as forms of resistance, connection and reflection.
