It's another win for independent podcasters today. Liam Heffernan of Mercury is striking back at the podcast network monopolies by adding to his roster of indie podcasts that bring listeners quality shows.
Mercury,
a new UK-based podcast network, officially launched in February. It is designed
to support the unique needs of independent creators looking to grow and
monetize their podcasts.
This week, three new podcasts have signed to the newly formed Mercury, as the independent podcast network continues its drive to represent the best shows and creators in the world.
Mercury was launched in February 2025 with a small roster, but their industry backing, investment in infrastructure, and impressive results to date - 2.1m downloads and 2.6m ad impressions - makes it one of the most disruptive and promising new networks in the world.
The three latest additions to the roster - Second Helpings, You’ve Got Mail, and If You Were in Charge - are consistent with its mission to champion the best undiscovered independent podcasts.
Liam Heffernan, Mercury’s founder, is “delighted to be welcoming these three new game-changing podcasts to the family. Though each brings its own unique tone and style, they are all united in their mission to drive important conversations forward and set the agenda for their audiences.”
Second Helpings is an honest, unscripted conversation about eating disorder recovery; the struggles, the setbacks and the present-day challenges of living life from creator, producer, and host Alice Florence Orr. The show launched in 2024 and just relaunched.
"Second Helpings is about having hard conversations on mental health and the dark side of wellness culture," says its creator and host Alice Florence Orr. “I'm thrilled to partner with Mercury to make the most of the show's potential and reach new audiences.”
"Nobody is an island. Having Mercury's support has come at exactly the right time, and Maria and I can't wait for everyone to hear the new episodes."
If You Were in Charge reimagines global challenges through the lens of world-renowned peace strategist Sanam Naraghi Anderlini. The podcast invites global experts and on-the-ground changemakers to explore bold, actionable solutions to humanity’s toughest problems, asking: “What would you do if given unlimited power to drive change?”

These are an extraordinary time of turbulence. Authoritarianism is on the rise. The Trump administration's full-frontal attack on the rule of law, democracy and the social economy is giving rise to militarization and defense spending globally.
But peace and security don’t just come through the barrel of a gun or high-tech weaponry. Social polarization, economic inequality, environmental degradation, and the demise of democratic norms need
a vibrant civic sector and investment in those who imagine new solutions and take on the responsibility to protect others.
If You Were In Charge - a podcast that reframes global challenges as global solutions returned on March 25th for Season 2 with peace strategist, author and social entrepreneur, Sanam Naraghi Anderlini.
“We are thrilled to join the Mercury Network, and we’re deeply inspired by Liam’s commitment to amplifying independent voices—a mission that aligns perfectly with our goal to spark meaningful dialogue and catalyze real-world impact,” says its producer Pearse Lynch.
This season Sanam Naraghi Anderlini is speaking to leaders across the social economic sector and those working on the ground to make real change.
Guests include:
Ece Temelkuran from Turkey - Journalist and Best-selling Author of How to Lose a Country: The 7 Steps from Democracy to Facism
Maria Espinosa from Equador, Former UN General Assembly President
Yael Braudo-Bahat founder of Women Waging Peace, Israel with Marwa Hammad, Women of the Sun, Palestine
Chris Worman, Global Strategist for #GivingTuesday
Wazhma Frogh, Afghan Peacebuilder and Activist
You’ve Got Mail is the personal diary of Bella, as she navigates life, love and work and provides a reassuring voice in the ear of fellow twentysomethings as they grow up and tackle the real world together, one podcast at a time.
“At the heart of You’ve Got Mail is the community that I’ve built. It was essential for me to find a podcast network that could support my podcast’s growth while preserving the intimate, community-focused atmosphere we’ve created,” says Bella.
“As soon as I learned about Mercury, I knew it was the perfect fit. Their commitment to empowering independent podcasters and fostering a space where creators remain in control is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m really excited to be part of a network that aligns so well with my values!”
All three shows will now be represented by Mercury. Find out more by visiting their website at mercurypodcasts.com
Mercury’s ambition is to represent the world’s best independent podcasts and creators. Kudos to Mercury. Our question at Ear Worthy is always the same. Where are the other investors, podcasters, podcast networks, production studios, and existing smaller podcast networks? Why are they not following the path blazed by Mercury?
