Let's Shoot! With Pete Chatmon Podcast: Lights, Camera, Action!

The inherent strengths of podcasting include connecting with a targeted audience that may not be large in number but constitutes a community with shared interests.

That's why Let's Shoot! with Pete Chatmon can thrive in the podcasting space, with its focus on movie / TV directors and other crafts associated with that business. To be clear, you don't have to be in the business to enjoy this podcast. Creator/Host Pete Chatmon has developed an inclusive atmosphere for his show.

Let's Shoot! with Pete Chatmon is a podcast on directing for anybody that’s, quite simply, ever watched anything. Pete Chatmon converses with a wide range of fellow directors, writers, actors, showrunners, producers, executives, and more on a journey to determine just what makes a good director and why we’ll always need stories...

With a deft ability to balance both half-hour single camera comedies and one-hour dramas, Pete Chatmon has directed over 65 episodes of television including HBO’s The Flight Attendant, Insecure, and Silicon Valley, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, Starz’ Raising Kanan, Hulu’s Interior Chinatown, Netflix’s You and Dead Boy Detectives, Paramount Plus’ Fatal Attraction, CBS’s Ghosts and NCIS: Origins, ABC’s High Potential and Grey’s Anatomy, FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest.

Chatmon is an NAACP Image Awards Nominee for Outstanding Directing In A Comedy Series for his work on The Flight Attendant. Chatmon is in development on The Education of Matt Barnes, for which he will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer. He also served as co-executive producer and producing director on season one of Onyx Collective’s Reasonable Doubt.

His debut feature as writer/director, Premium, starred Dorian Missick, Zoe Saldana, and Hill Harper, and premiered on Showtime after a limited theatrical run. Chatmon also wrote, produced, and directed 761st, a documentary on the first Black tank battalion in WWII, narrated by Andre Braugher. He is in development on his next feature, a heist film entitled The Withdrawal, that follows a bank teller, seemingly working alone, as he takes over a local bank, giving a small town a crash course in history, crime, and politics as the fate of an entire community sits in the balance.

Chatmon’s career began in 2001 with the Sundance selection of his NYU thesis film, 3D, starring Kerry Washington. His most recent short film, BlackCard, premiered on HBO, and his narrative podcast, Wednesday Morning, engaged voters around the 2020 election. He continues to give back and educate the next generation of storytellers via his podcast, Let’s Shoot! with Pete Chatmon, and his book, Transitions: A Director’s Journey + Motivational Handbook. Follow him on Instagram and Twitter via @petechatmon.

What does Chatmon do on his podcast? It's your standard interview podcast, yet Chatmon manages to light up his interviews with his trademark with and humor, and, of course, his insights into directing and the movie / Tv space.

So far, my favorite episodes include interviews with Rebecca Asher, daughter of famed Bewitched actor Elizabeth Montgomery; actor Mike Colter  from Luke Cage and Evil; director Ava DuVernay; Valerie Weiss, and actor Kaley Cuocco.

Chatmon also smartly has a sponsor -- Script --  linked to the industry in which he is employed.

Check out  Let's Shoot! with Pete Chatmon. It's a window into the movie / TV universe with a talented director who can connect with his guests.
