The Pharmacist's Voice Podcast is like a Swiss Army Knife for indie podcaster Kim Newlove. This superb podcast has numerous applications. It's a helpful guide for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, particularly those involved in administering injections to patients. For example, in Episode 334, Kim discussed social stories, which can help patients feel more comfortable
about getting a shot.
In the episode, Kim said: "My name is Kim Newlove. I’m an Ohio pharmacist and a full-time caregiver for my adult son with autism. I used a social story to prepare my son for a shot at our local pharmacy in February. It worked great, and he seemed less stressed at the pharmacy. Social stories can also help your patients (and children)."
She then explains: "Social stories are short, simple stories that prepare someone for a situation. In the case of getting a shot, you (the pharmacist/student/tech) are trying to make getting a shot predictable for your patient by explaining what they’ll experience in layman’s terms. Empathy is important. Focus on them and their experience."
It's also an instruction manual for indie podcasters. For example, in Episode 334, Kim talked to PharmD Cory Jenks, co-host of the Diabetes Remission Roadmap Podcast. This episode was # 12 in her Pharmacist Podcasters Series. In this series, Kim and her
guests discuss podcasting to inspire listeners to start their own podcast, become a podcast guest, or simply use their voice. In episode 306, for instance, Kim spoke to Tim Ulbrich, PharmD, who is the host of Your Financial Pharmacist Podcast.
The show also has a series that just completed its 56th episode in Kim's drug pronunciation series. For example, in her latest episode, Kim divides pantoprazole and Protonix into syllables, tells you which syllables to emphasize, and shares my sources. With so many drugs being produced and so many soundalike names, correctly pronouncing the drug name is critical for the pharmacist and the patient.
Kim
founded The Pharmacist’s Voice ®, LLC in 2017 and launched The Pharmacist’s Voice ® Podcast in 2019. In 2023, Kim launched her second
podcast, The Perrysburg Podcast, to give back to her community. Between the two podcasts, she has published more than 400 episodes.
Ear Worthy reviewed
The Perrysburg Podcast in May 2025, and we observed: "Kim Newlove is,
not surprisingly, a terrific host. Her narration is impactful and always engaging, and her interviews spark to life no matter how mundane the
topic may appear."
Kim and her husband live in Perrysburg, OH, with their two adult sons. In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending time with family, playing Ticket to Ride Switzerland, swimming, and riding her BMW C400X motorbike.

Kim also teaches Podcasting 101 classes in person in Northwest Ohio and self-paced online courses on podcasting and drug name pronunciations. Private coaching is available by appointment. You can book Kim to speak to your group about podcasting, pharmacy topics, or pharmacy careers using the contact form.
The Pharmacist's Voice Podcast has two primary constituencies: pharmacy professionals and independent podcasters. It's a strange brew, but it works for Kim Newlove.
Kim Newlove has a Midwest earnestness to her voice and a calm professionalism that makes both her podcasts supremely ear-worthy. She's an excellent teacher, offering expertise in drug pronunciations, pharmacy knowledge, and podcasting tips.
In an era where indie podcasters struggle to monetize and earn a living from their audio efforts, Kim Newlove demonstrates a courageous entrepreneurial spirit that is energizing and encouraging. I recommend her pharmacy podcaster series for indie podcasters and, of course, The Pharmacist's Voice Podcast for pharmacy professionals.
