Programming in any media for senior citizens is an ongoing punchline for many. Let's be honest, there's something to it. How else could NCIS be on TV for 23 seasons? Or Fox News be popular. Its average viewer is 64 years old, sitting in the recliner absorbing the sabotaged escalator at the U.N. theory or the Big Lie that cost the network ($787 million) about the 2020 election.
Clearly, people over 65 need better programming. In podcasting, at least, the people at Crow's Feet are doing something about that. In the Crow's Feet podcast, you’ll
hear the voices of writers who will inspire you and often make you laugh
about this journey through life.
In October, Crow's Feet will release two episodes.
First, “Make some plans and live!” say the ‘traveling nanas,’ viral sensations Ellie Hamby, an international documentary photographer, and Dr. Sandy Hazelip, a geriatrician. The two met 25 years ago, becoming fast friends and intrepid travelers. On the October 8 Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age podcast, Hazelip and Hamby discuss their re-creation of Philieas Fogg’s Around the World in 80 Days journey--in their 80s--while sharing tips on traveling, their philosophies on friendship, life, and living fearlessly, and their new book, Here We Go. Hosted by Nancy Franklin.
On October 22, meet Jeanette Leardi, a social gerontologist, community educator, aging wellness leader, journalist, and author of the new book, Ageing Sideways: Changing Our Perspectives on Getting Older. Leardi offers a surprising new way to look at aging, which involves letting go of the baked-in assumptions we have about getting older. Join host Jan M. Flynn in conversation with Leardi and come away with a refreshed outlook on living our elder years with purpose, vitality, and joy.
