Recently, we published an article -- Five Of The Best Indie Podcasts About Podcasting. That piece focused on five excellent podcasts that support the industry and support indie podcasters.
Today's article focuses more on podcasts that are specifically designed to assist indie podcasters. These podcasters drill down to the podcaster level of support. These podcasts are like mechanics checking under the hood. The hosts of these shows have several attributes in common -- they're immensely talented, wildly creative, solutions-focused, and care deeply about helping indie podcasters.

One of my favorite episodes was in September with guest Michael Osborne of the Famous & Gravy
podcast. Michael, who is one of my favorite people, recounts how his indie podcast found success through insight, hard work, and a well-executed strategy.

The School Of Podcasting
The School of Podcasting,
which is a podcast that helps you discover the power of podcasting.
Founder/host Dave Jackson says: "It helps you avoid the common
mistakes that podcasters make. From planning, producing, and promoting
your podcast along with all the tools and techniques. If you're looking
to start a podcast or are a veteran podcaster, you can catch some great
insights with this free podcast."
Jackson has been involved in podcasting since 2005, and I always enjoy the OGs of the industry because they have that panoramic view of where the industry came from and where it is heading.
Listening to episodes of his show, it's obvious that Jackson cares. He can speak in technical terms, but his goal seems to be clarity and mutual understanding for his listeners.
Jackson's credentials are impressive, although I think his most significant achievement is that he cares about his listeners and students. He is the author of the book Profit From Your Podcast.
In 2018, he was inducted into the Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame.
So what does Jackson talk about in his episodes? In a few words, anything related to podcasts. His episodes contain most eccentric titles, from Strike Up Your Podcast: Lessons from Duck Pin Bowling to Don't Get Bitten: Identifying Predatory Practices in Podcasting.

Clearly, these shows are to help podcasters focus on independent podcasts.
Do independent podcasts need all this help because they are inferior to network-supported shows? In reality, the opposite is true. Good Hang with Amy Poehler gets massive support from Spotify Studios. Marketing, branding, distribution, promotion, finances, tech support is all done for the show.
Independent podcasters do not have that support system. In fact, large podcast networks see them as competition to be eliminated. How do they do that? By either copycatting a successful independent show and adding a celebrity, or massing their public relations armada to drown out the indie show that is deflecting attention from their roster of shows.
