| Drew Barrymore has experienced a career with many twists and turns, as a celebrity can have. She's been a child star, then a bad-girl teen and young adult, then a rom-com movie star, and finally, a cozy daytime talk show host. In fact, despite rumors, The Drew Barrymore Show has not been cancelled. In fact, CBS Media Ventures announced a two-season renewal for the program, which guarantees it will remain on the air through at least 2028. Barrymore's only recent controversy was her facing intense backlash for attempting to resume production on The Drew Barrymore Show during the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes. While her daytime talk show did not strictly violate SAG-AFTRA strike rules, proceeding without her striking writers caused immense outrage, leading her to temporarily pause the show until the strikes ended. |

The How Do You Drew podcast is an independent, fan-run show dedicated to exploring the life, career, and cultural impact of actress and host Drew Barrymore. Hosted by Anne and Ashley—the creators of the Drew Barrymore fan archive The Drewseum—the podcast dives into over 25 years of "Drewbie" expertise to chronicle her personal history and professional projects.
Episodes are released bi-weekly and take deep dives into various eras of Drew Barrymore's life, from 90s Hollywood nostalgia to her production company, Flower Films. Some episodes examine specific, often overlooked, or pivotal years in her career, and the co-hosts provide updates on her current projects. Finally, the show includes recurring bits like "Drewism of the Week" and "This Week in Drew Barrymore History."
The show is also published on the How Do You Drew YouTube Channel.
The show began in August 2022, and has released nearly 140 episodes. Apparently, the co-hosts began a Drew Barrymore fan website before the podcast, The Drewseum. The podcast and website are fan fiction, and the podcast is specifically video/audio fan fiction.
In an early episode in late November 2022, the co-hosts discussed that Drew Barrymore has long been a lover of tattoos and currently has a
total of 10 herself. "In this definitive guide of Drew's ink, we talk
in-depth about each one—from her very first obtained around age 13 to
her most recent received on-air during The Drew Barrymore Show earlier
this year."
The co-hosts also have an ongoing segment called Drewsflash. Segment # 6 includes: "This week we're getting you caught up on all things new with Drew! We
cover our girl's transformation into Bob Ross for The Drew Barrymore
Show's Halloween episode, fun tidbits gleaned from interviews with Pauly
Shore and Giada De Laurentiis, and a cute new BFF hang with Cameron
Diaz. We also talk about Drew's history with writing on her arm, new
Flower Beauty promo photos, and an ad for Paramount & the Super Bowl
starring Ms. Barrymore!"
Much credit is due to creators and hosts Anne and Ashley. First, they've been remarkably consistent releasing episodes on schedule for nearly four years. Second, their intro and outro music, which is an acoustic guitar with strumming chords, is apparently written by the co-hosts.
Third, Anne and Ashley have built out their fan ecosystem, the website, and podcast are professionally done and capably managed. Finally, Anne and Ashley excel at being co-hosts with a natural chemistry that easy to like.
I must confess that I've not given Drew Barrymore much thought, but Anne and Ashley have, and they've managed to develop a business out of their fandom.
The How Do You Drew podcast is a superb independently produced show with two women who can entertain anyone, even if you're not a Drew Barrymore fan.
