Americans love stories of success, a fall from grace and a chance for redemption. A new podcast exposes the hard core of fame and the soft underbelly of seemingly inevitable shame.
Jake Brennan Productions, the team behind the award-winning music and true-crime podcast, DISGRACELAND, has announced the launch of a new spin-off franchise BADLANDS, which will be available first on Amazon Music.
BADLANDS was born out of the success of the company’s exclusive move to Amazon Music in February 2021, when DISGRACELAND, a wildly popular music podcast in the world, arrived at Amazon Music for season seven.
BADLANDS will chronicle sensational stories from the worlds of celebrity, sports, and beyond. It is the first original podcast franchise debut for Amazon Music from Jake Brennan Productions.
The first season, HOLLYWOODLAND, premiered on Amazon Music on May 5th, will detail stories of some of Hollywood’s most legendary stars in a blend of hardcore history, true crime, and transgressive fiction. HOLLYWOODLAND’s debut episode will center around Marilyn Monroe, exploring her unsound death and asking the question, who really killed Marilyn Monroe?
HOLLYWOODLAND will also include the stories of stars like River Phoenix, Bruce Lee, Dennis Hopper, Fatty Arbuckle, John Holmes, and more.
“‘Disgraceland’ has allowed me to dig deep into the most insane stories in music history, but the unhinged history of notorious figures in the spotlight goes way beyond musicians,” said host and creator, Jake Brennan.
Brennan adds: “Partnering with Amazon Music on ‘Badlands’ means more stories about the thrilling lives and dirty deeds of significant figures from Hollywood, sports, and beyond. Ever since starting Disgraceland, this has been something my listeners have asked for; edge-of-your-seat storytelling about figures from beyond the world of music. I’m stoked to be able to deliver.”
