CNN Ramps Up Its Podcast Presence With The Handoff And Chasing Life

 CNN continues a strategy to infuse their podcast footprint with more content, more resources and leverage its TV hosts to attract listeners. 

On May 11, CNN Audio announced the debut of The Handoff, a new weekly podcast hosted by CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon. 

Cuomo and Lemon -- unshackled from the broadcast clock that too often hold them back -- are stepping out from behind their anchor desks to come together and ignite even more personal and hot topic conversations. Nothing is off limits, according to CNN.

Given what we know about these two "shoot from the hip" hosts, it's conceivable that the rhetorical fur could fly.

Interestingly, The Handoff will be available exclusively with a subscription to the CNN channel on Apple Podcasts when Apple Podcasts Subscriptions debuts later this month.

Last week, CNN announced that award-winning journalist and CNN Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, will soon embark on a new journey with the premiere of his new podcast, Chasing Life.

For the first time in more than a year, many of us are ready to imagine the next chapter of our lives. In Chasing Life, Dr. Gupta guides listeners on how to mindfully approach our new normal, while finding a balance between self-care and productivity. 

The first episode premiered on May 11 and will be available to listen at cnn.com/audio, across mobile devices via CNN’s apps for iOS and Android, and on all major podcast platforms. Subsequent episodes will be released every Tuesday. 

Sanjay Gupta is an American neurosurgeon, medical reporter, and writer. He serves as associate chief of the neurosurgery service at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, associate professor of neurosurgery at the Emory University School of Medicine, and chief medical correspondent for CNN.

Dr. Gupta has been instrumental during the pandemic in helping people understand the science behind the virus and counter wild claims of ineffective and potentially dangerous medications or nonsensical therapies that involved bleach ingestion and other quack cures.
