Kesha To Star In New Sci-Fi Podcast "Electric Easy"

Popular music and science fiction occasionally intersect with some intriguing results from this witch's brew. Remember Flash Gordon, the 1980 sci-fi revival of the famous comic series with music from Queen? Or 1984's flop of the Frank Herbert blockbuster novel, Dune? In that film, rock star from the mega-wattage group The Police, Sting, co-starred as Feyd-Rautha.

Now, thanks to podcast maker QCode, pop singer Kesha will headline the cast of a new science fiction podcast. The cast of the show entitled Electric Easy, also includes singer Cloe Bailey and actor Mason Gooding (Booksmart and Love, Victor).

In the release for the podcast, QCode says both Kesha and Bailey have each written an original song for the ten-episode series.

“I had so much fun getting the opportunity to write and perform new music while immersing myself in this heartfelt story,” said Kesha in a statement. “It was wonderful working with so many talented actors on a podcast truly unlike anything I’ve ever listened to before. It’s a captivating story that confronts so many social issues, celebrating and highlighting the struggles of the LGBTG+ community, and gives a perspective on AI that I’ve never heard or seen before. I cannot wait for everyone to hear it.”

Electric Easy

Created by Vanya Asher (“Shadow and Bone”), Electric Easy is described as a musical neo-noir science fiction podcast about a forbidden love between a runaway android and the human sent to hunt her down.

Set in a near future Los Angeles and centered around the growing subculture of androids called electrics, the story is told through the perspectives of a cast of diverse characters trapped in a cauldron of crisis.

“Electric Easy is a wild musical exploration of love, loss and what makes us human,” said Asher. “Working with Chloe, Mason, the legendary Kesha, and the rest of our extraordinarily talented cast was a dream come true. From their songwriting and performances to their powerful voice acting, everyone confidently stepped into this fantastical world and gave it their everything.”

The cast also includes actors Frances Fisher, Happy Anderson, Jojo T. Gibbs, Benito Skinner, Lachlan Watson, Erica Ash, Sugar Lyn Beard, Sean Maguire, Jen Kober, Detox, and Brendan Jordan.

Asher and Kesha will serve as executive producers, along with QCode CEO Rob Herting, David Henning and Sandra Yee Ling.

Electric Easy debuts July 19.

It is the second podcast for Kesha. Last fall she began hosting Kesha And The Creepies with the iHeartPodcast Network. The series features the singer discussing supernatural experiences, the occult, unexplained mysteries, urban legends, psychedelic art, spirituality and astrology.
