Spotify, in partnership with Warner Bros. and DC announced casting and revealed the first details of its highly anticipated podcast - Batman Unburied. The podcast, executive produced by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises) and his company Phantom Four, hopes to show listeners a whole new side of the Caped Crusader.
Leading the cast as Bruce Wayne is Winston Duke (Nine Days, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Us). Batman Unburied is a psychological thriller that takes us on a new journey deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne introducing a slew of dark twists and turns with a number of classic Batman Super-Villains. When audiences meet Bruce Wayne, he is a forensic pathologist, working in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham’s citizens. Not only will the Super-Hero be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego Batman.
Winston Duke made his feature film debut in BLACK PANTHER, the highest-grossing film of 2018, as well as the third-highest-grossing film ever in the United States. Duke played the fan-favorite character M’Baku. The role earned him his first NAACP nomination for Breakout of the Year. Duke reprised his role as M’Baku in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS END GAME. Duke most recently starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg’s Netflix crime drama SPENCER CONFIDENTIAL. Outside of acting, Duke is an advocate for the HeForShe movement and most recently issued a global call to action for gender equality and gender equity during the United Nations HeForShe Impact Summit. He also has joined the American Diabetes Association® to spark a national conversation about diabetes - a disease that impacts nearly half of the U.S. adult population.
Currently starring alongside Duke in the project is Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Peter Pan, Black Hawk Down, The Death of Stalin) as Bruce’s loyal butler and right-hand man, Alfred.
Jason Isaacs was born in Liverpool, the third of four children of Sheila and Eric Isaacs. His parents were both from Jewish families (from Eastern Europe). He studied law at Bristol University and graduated in 1985 with a degree in law but decided to study acting. While at Bristol University, he directed and/or appeared in over 20 productions. He then attended the Central School of Speech and Drama and graduated in 1989.
Jason's notable roles include Col. William Tavington in The Patriot, Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, Mr. Darling/Captain Hook in Peter Pan, and Maurice in Good. In 2014, he appeared with Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, and Jon Bernthal in the World War II-set film Fury. Jason is married to documentary filmmaker Emma Hewitt, with whom he has two children.
