Waveform Tech Podcast Joins Vox Podcast Network

Vox Media has announced that Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast, hosted by Marques Brownlee and Andrew Manganelli, has joined the Vox Media Podcast Network (VMPN) beginning with the September 3 episode.

Through the partnership, Vox Media will manage sales, marketing and distribution for the popular tech podcast and YouTube channel, and identify new opportunities for growth and expansion. Waveform is the latest addition to Vox Media’s fast-growing slate of leading podcasts, joining on the heels of this year’s acquisition of Cafe Studios and recently announced partnerships with Gastropod and Longform.

Waveform podcast

Waveform: THE MKBHD Podcast is a popular and well-established tech podcast for gadget lovers and tech heads hosted by Marques Brownlee, better known as MKBHD, and Andrew Maganelli. Pulling from over 10 years of experience covering the tech industry, MKBHD and Manganelli keep their audience informed and entertained as they take a deep dive into the latest and greatest in tech and what deserves your hard-earned cash.

MKBHD and Manganelli make an exceptional co-hosting team. Their skills complement each other and they often jumpstart fascinating conversations on the role of tech in our society, traveling far beyond the "gadget of the week" gabfests that too often define many tech shows.

Marques Brownlee (AKA MKBHD) is a 27-year-old video producer and tech reviewer. He started his channel talking tech on YouTube in 2009 and has become one of the largest creators on the platform with over 13 million subscribers. Today, he reviews everything from smartphones to robots to electric cars.

Andrew Manganelli is a 31-year-old tech enthusiast and first official member of the MKBHD team in 2017. While also being deeply interested in smartphones and computers, he’s also very passionate about gaming and the community behind it and brings that experience and knowledge to the MKBHD channel and Waveform Podcast.

Waveform as a podcast also accomplishes a self-reinforcing symmetry with its YouTube twin brother. Too often, podcast hosts ad producers leap into a YouTube version of their podcast with their eyes closed. Here with Waveform, audio and video support the cause.

Like true-crime podcasts, tech podcasts proliferate with brutal efficiency. The secret sauce to success in the tech podcast arena seems to be perfectly sliced portions of nerding out, consumer-driven reviews of new products, insightful discussions on the usefulness of tech, the dangers of early adoption, and the ability to ignore highly-promoted product features that don't really matter.

Waveform tosses all those balls in the air and juggles them masterfully.

New episodes of Waveform are available weekly on Friday.

"We're excited to be joining the Vox Media Podcast Network. As we continue adjusting, tweaking and finding new things to do with Waveform, it's an honor to join such a diverse, talented network of shows. We're looking forward to this partnership bringing the show to new audiences and new heights," says Brownlee.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marques, Andrew, and the Waveform team to the Vox Media Podcast Network,’ stated Marty Moe, President of Vox Media Studios. ‘Vox Media is home to the leading slate of business and tech podcasts, and we’re excited to partner with Waveform to continue to grow and strengthen our network . Partnerships like this one showcase our long-term strategy to be the leader in premium audio for today's audience across a wide range of subjects, genres, and journalistically-driven formats.”

The partnership marks the second project between MKBHD and Vox Media. MKBHD is the host of the Emmy-nominated series Retro Tech where he explores technological promises and products of the past.

The series is produced by Vox Media Studios for YouTube Originals.
