Mind Body Wealth Podcast Premieres: Wise About Your Wallet

There are indeed plenty of podcasts about personal finance in the audio universe. But don't mistake quantity for quality. You have the deans of personal finance podcasters, from the sharp and articulate Clark Howard to the money shaman Dave Ramsey, who hates debt. And hundreds of others.

So what's different about the Mind Body Wealth podcast? In a few words -- the host, Lauren Simmons.

Mind Body Wealth
Spotify Podcast Host Lauren Simmons of Mind Body Wealth

Simmons, only 22, shattered the glass ceiling and made history by being the youngest and only full-time female equity trader on Wall Street for Rosenblatt Securities. Affectionately called the “Wolfette of Wall Street,” Simmons was also the second African-American woman in history to hold the prestigious title. Graduating Kennesaw State University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Genetics and a Minor in Statistics, Lauren Simmons initially aspired for a career in genetic counseling.

Her path quickly steered in a different direction when she moved to New York City, where networking led her to meet Richard Rosenblatt, CEO of Rosenblatt Securities. Beyond her many qualifications, it was ultimately Simmons’ confidence that led Rosenblatt to take her under his wing and offer her a position as an Equity Trader in his company.

“Being a trader, you make decisions within microseconds,” Simmons said on meeting Rosenblatt, “So I think for him, even for me, the choice of coming onto the trading floor made sense immediately.”

The job wasn’t completely hers; she still had to pass the Series 19 exam, which is a requirement for all floor brokers to earn their badge. This test has a pass rate of only 20% in a class of 10. After studying the book cover to cover for a month straight, Lauren Simmons passed the exam.

Since her story broke, Lauren Simmons has been featured in various media outlets including Harper’s Bazaar, Forbes, Politico, CNBC, Bloomberg and The Cut and has had brand partnerships with LinkedIn, Express, Champs, Isagenix.

She is also executive producing a biopic with AGC studios about her journey to Wall Street and writing a book. Currently, Lauren is hosting and producing the show GOING PUBLIC for Entrepreneur, as well as hosting a finance podcast with Spotify and Best Case Studios.

In her new Spotify podcast, Mind Body Wealth with Lauren Simmons, host Lauren Simmons will get real with listeners about their relationship with money.
