Second Season of Living & Learning With Reba McEntire To Premiere On October 25.

You know that podcasting has eclipsed a tipping point when iconic performers in other media such as music, books, TV and film plant their flag in the podcast industry with a show. Country music legend Reba McEntire is an example of podcasting's growing relevance in our culture. After a successful first season of Living & Learning with Reba McEntire Spotify has announced that Reba McEntire is returning for the second season of her podcast Living & Learning with Reba McEntire on October 25.

Reba McEntire podcast

Hosted by the country music icon and co-hosted by actress-comedian Melissa Peterman, Living & Learning with Reba McEntire is inspired and informed by the way McEntire approaches life: with an insatiable curiosity, dedication to expanding her knowledge, and reliance on her own lived experience. Each week, Reba will tackle numerous topics through informative and intriguing conversations with a variety of celebrity guests.

The first season of the podcast launched in September 2020. Sometimes, podcasts with big names are hastily put-together shows with no other agenda than to showcase their ultra-famous celebrity to attracts downloads and sponsors.

That is not the case with Living & Learning with Reba McEntire. Sure, the show leverages Reba every chance it gets, but it's a terrific show. First, because it covers serious topics in a serious way. There's no chatty "Ellen" rhetorical blah-blah-blah but deeper discussions on issues that people face every day.

Having Reba be the star means that she can attract other big names to be guests on the show. To Reba's credit, she doesn't waste their appearance with "happy talk" but Reba and her guests delve into aging, wellness, and activism with Jane Fonda. The episode with Dolly Parton (who's always full of life insights) explored career decisions and making hard choices in life displayed a woman ahead of her time and successfully doing battle with stereotypes.

Not afraid to invite controversy, the November 2020 episode about cancel culture with Jen Hatmaker and Karamo Brown rose well above the simplistic and aggrieved discussions on talk radio and some news networks.

In the upcoming second season, Spotify teases that McEntire will be joined by some of her famous friends including: her boyfriend “Sugar Tot” Rex Linn,  country music trio Lady A, and fellow country music icon Trisha Yearwood.

Although Spotify doesn't advertise the show's co-host Melissa Peterman, she is excellent and an essential part of the show. Peterman, an actress-comedian, who was a regular of the TV show Reba, clearly has a close relationship with the country music celebrity and adds value to the show with her questions, experiences, and "lighter than air" persona.
