The podcast hosts aim to keep it real, blunt, and entertaining as they discuss how to achieve a multiracial democracy, cover all the ground left behind by mainstream media, and seek to make sense of the nonsense. democracy-ish, dedicated to fighting for democracy and preserving audiences’ sanity, drops each Thursday.

New host Wajahat Ali is a new kind of public intellectual: young-ish, exuberant, optimistic, and funny. Ali brings a new dynamic to the show as a Muslim Pakistani man who was born and raised in the US. He is a Daily Beast columnist and former New York Times contributing op-ed writer, TV host, highly sought-after political commentator, TED speaker, award-winning playwright, attorney, and consultant for the United States Department of State.

Ali is also an author of the new book “Go Back to Where You Came From: And Other Helpful Recommendations on How to Become American”.

In addition to hosting democracy-ish, Moodie also hosts Woke AF Daily, where she explores the many facets of what it means to be "woke" in our modern life. She is a political columnist at Medium’s Zora Magazine and has been published in a myriad of outlets including GEN, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Essence, The Atlantic, Ebony, the Huffington Post, among other media outlets.

Moodie is a recovering lobbyist and former educator turned PR/Comms specialist and media maven. She makes frequent appearances on MSNBC, CBC, PBS, and BBC America. Additionally, Moodie has scripted, developed, produced, and/or co-hosted podcasts and miniseries for both radio and TV. She has been an unapologetic commentator about America’s love affair with white supremacy and our crumbling democracy. She made waves on election night in 2016 when she called Donald Trump’s win “white supremacy’s last stand”—video clips of which went viral.

DCP Entertainment’s mission is to provide a platform for people of color, women, and LGBTQ communities; and to highlight stories around mental health, disability, and overcoming adversity.
