New Podcast On The Business Of Hollywood Premieres March 14th with Matt Belloni

You know Matt Belloni. You've heard Matt Belloni for years. Belloni has been Kim Masters's "partner in banter" on her KCRW entertainment business podcast, The Business

For years, Belloni and Masters have discussed the latest in Hollywood news, which can range from movie grosses for the new Spider-Man movie to subscription gains for HBO Max. It's the inside baseball of the entertainment industry.

Belloni, who was the editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter and is an entertainment lawyer, will be hosting a new podcast called The Town. The podcast is being produced by The Ringer, a Spotify Studio, and Puck, a digital media company where Belloni is a contributor and founding partner.

In The Town, Belloni takes you inside Hollywood, using exclusive reporting and insight to explain the backstories on everything from Marvel movies to "The Bachelor." Building on his must-read newsletter What I’m Hearing, Belloni will touch on what is getting made and why, who is winning and losing, and what people in show business are actually talking about.

The Town with Matthew Belloni launches Monday, March 14. New episodes will drop three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

“Matt has a handle on the inner workings of Hollywood, as well as relevant topics and trends that keep popping up, that’s basically unparalleled right now,” said Bill Simmons, founder of The Ringer. "We wanted to do a podcast with him selfishly more than anything — we wanted to listen to it.”

"I’ve been a big admirer of what Bill and his team at The Ringer have built,” said Belloni. “I am incredibly excited to partner with them to bring the energy of my newsletter to a podcast to delight both of our audiences.”

I've been an advocate of The Business podcast for years. You can read my review from June 2020 here. In Belloni's few minutes on the podcast every week during the "banter" segment, he sparkles with insight, clarity of vision, predictive accuracy, and a light touch of wit and humor.

Check it out on March 14th.
