You have to give it up for The Dark Knight. He's thrived in the comics. His 60s TV show is iconic in its campy way. The movies -- in all their iterations and with a host of different actors portraying Batman -- bring in hundreds of millions of box office receipts. In fact, "The Batman" movie with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader has made nearly $800 million worldwide before being released on HBO Max last week.
Spotify announced the creation of this podcast series months ago. The streaming giant has come under fire recently for "vaporware announcements" of podcasts that are never produced.
But The Dark Knight will not be trifled with. So Spotify has announced that Batman Unburied will be releasing globally on May 3.
David S. Goyer’s dramatic and psychologically thrilling take on Caped Crusader will take listeners on a new journey deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne. Batman Unburied stars Winston Duke as Batman, Hasan Minhaj as The Riddler, and Gina Rodriguez as Barbara Gordon.
In the series, a serial killer known as The Harvester terrorizes Gotham City, but Batman is not coming to the rescue. In fact, Bruce Wayne has no memory of being the Caped Crusader at all. Instead, Bruce Wayne is a forensic pathologist, performing the autopsy on the latest victim when he’s attacked by the killer himself. As Bruce Wayne’s obsession with the Harvester consumes him, Dr. Thomas Wayne, head of Gotham City Hospital, orders his son to take medical leave and seek treatment from an unusual psychologist, Dr. Hunter.
With Batman missing in action, Detective Barbara Gordon is left with no other choice but to seek help from Gotham’s second-smartest detective: The Riddler.
Batman Unburied premieres globally on May 3 with the first two episodes and weekly single episode releases following.
Don't wait for the Bat Signal on May 3. Just start listening.
