Spotify Original scripted podcast produced by Gimlet – “Gay Pride & Prejudice” – will be launching on May 25 with a two-episode drop. This new podcast is a modern retelling of the Jane Austen classic, Pride and Prejudice.
While the Governor of Florida may be angered by the use of the word "gay" in the podcast's title, this new podcast offers listeners some intriguing key themes, such as the different ways that love may grow or disappear and whether romantic love and marriage go together.
“Gay Pride & Prejudice”
is a modern interpretation of the beloved Jane Austen classic. In the
series, Bennet, a 30-something non-committal gay man, struggles to find
belonging
when his chosen family suddenly begins coupling up and settling down.
The series is created and directed by Zackary Grady, with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Justin Mikita, and Gimlet’s head of scripted Mimi O’Donnell executive producing, and a standout voice cast including Blake Lee as Bennett (“Cruel Summer”), Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Colin (“Take Me Out,” “Modern Family”), Rosie O'Donnell as Mrs. B, Vella Lovell as Charlotte (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), Javier Muñoz as Carlos (“Hamilton”), and more.
As part of the series announcement, Spotify also revealed the audio trailer, narrated by Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
The series will also be presented at Tribeca Festival in New York City this year, with a highly-anticipated panel featuring the cast and creators on June 13
