Intelligence Squared U.S Podcast Debates Wins Gold, Silver & Bronze

Who doesn't love a good debate? Not the ones on Fox News, where they all agree that Biden sucks, and then they beat up on some liberal professor they've invited as a sacrificial lamb. No, a real debate. Where people present facts and have carefully considered positions, not adulterated by political bias and ideological straitjackets.

Intelligence Squared U.S., the veteran debate podcast series and media organization, has just been honored with six Telly Awards for excellence in digital video programming. Winners were selected from more than 11,000 entries submitted from around the globe.

Intelligence Squared U.S. (IQ2US) was founded to address a fundamental problem in America: the extreme polarization of our nation and our politics. Through its award-winning live debates and associated programming, the nonprofit company serves as a model for responsible media in a new age - fair, intelligent, nonpartisan - while restoring critical thinking, facts, reason, and civility to public discourse.

Author and ABC News correspondent John Donvan has moderated since 2008.

One award recognized the overall caliber of the company's virtual events in the "Online Series / Virtual Events & Experiences" category, shining a light on their innovative live virtual debate model. The remaining five recognized individual debates in the "Political/Commentary" category. Here are the five specific Intelligence Squared U.S. debates that were honored:

“In our increasingly divided world, Americans deserve a contempt-free zone for hearing both sides of the issues. This suite of Telly awards underscores the demand and need for balanced, respectful, and civilized debate in our society,” said Clea Conner, CEO of Intelligence Squared U.S. “Our team is honored and humbled to have our work recognized alongside some of the world’s most brilliant content creators. We owe a special thanks to the debaters who took to our virtual stage this year: they demonstrated extraordinary courage of conviction and depth of knowledge on these important, complex topics."

Recently, the podcast taped its next program, a conversation with debate champion Bo Seo about what debate strategies people can employ in their own contentious conversations.

That episode will release soon across podcast platforms.
