Bloomberg Premieres New Podcast "Bedrock USA" About Citizen Involvement

You have to give Bloomberg Media credit for developing a coherent and successful podcast strategy years ago. Years before Amazon, Spotify or SiriusXM ever considered podcasting as a legitimate  profit-making media option, Bloomberg had already positioned podcasts as a central part of its entire communications and marketing plan.

Bloomberg's BusinessWeek podcast has been around for years. The venerable podcast served as the mother ship for the multitude of podcasts Bloomberg has released in the last five years, while still remaining in print, radio and TV.

Now, Bloomberg is premiering a brand-new podcast in collaboration with iHeartMedia, Bedrock, USA, hosted by Bloomberg CityLab reporter, Laura Bliss.

In a super-divided, pandemic-era America awash in conspiracies and misinformation, Bedrock, USA is ostensibly about a group of people who didn’t like what they saw happening in their local governments and decided to get involved – whether that meant holding a rally, recalling an official or storming their government with bullhorns and threats.

Their stories show how far-right ideologies enter into local politics – sometimes quietly, other times at full volume. Hosted by Bloomberg CityLab reporter Laura Bliss, Bedrock, USA will be a limited series podcast about political extremism, small-town life, and the fight for democracy.

What Bloomberg podcasts lack in creative mojo or innovative audio design, they more than make up for with solid, straight-ahead reporting that drills for facts and then draws conclusions from that recently mined information.

It's strong reporting in the center lane. It's worth a listen
