iHeart Podcasts Worth A Listen This Week

The iHeart podcast network is massive, with downloads, increasing by 90 percent since 2020. The network's monthly listeners are up to 32 million people in the U.S., and that's also up 49 percent since 2020.

When any network -- TV, radio, and podcast -- is that large, not every piece of content will be a gem. Some may be a cubic zirconia. Since this column isn't QVC, I will only try to persuade you to check out iHeart's 24 carat podcasts.

This week, seasons and episodes to keep on your radar from the weekly Podcast Spotlight roundup: “Math & Magic: Stories from the Frontiers of Marketing with Bob Pittman,” “Death Island” and “Transportista: Who Murdered Captain Coral?

Math & Magic: Stories from the Frontiers of Marketing with Bob Pittman: Get insight from some of the brightest minds in marketing with season five hosted by Bob Pittman, who just happens to be iHeartMedia’s CEO and Chairman. Go figure. Sit in as Pitman analyzes the Math and Magic of marketing in informative conversations with today's most gifted disruptors.

Personally, understanding marketing is like attempting to see how a magic trick is done. Despite the obvious network promo, the show is worth a listen, even if just to impress your friends with some marketing jargon you can toss around.

I can now speak about brand positioning, demand generation, and inbound marketing, all thanks to Mr. Pitman.

Tune in to new episodes every Thursday.

Death Island: Explore the mysterious deaths of tourists on a remote island in Thailand with this podcast, set in the seemingly idyllic paradise of Koh Tao. This show has a lot going on: Government cover-ups, corrupt police, bungled investigations, silenced natives, cults. Find out why locals and tourists have come to call this part of the world Death Island with every new episode exploring a different, tragic and mysterious death. Tune in to unravel a new mystery every Tuesday.

Transportista: Who Murdered Captain Coral?: Told from the perspective of Beto Coral, a son of the war on drugs in Colombia, this show shares the story of the much-anticipated peace following Escobar’s death...a peace never truly happened for his family given that his father, el Capitán Humberto Coral, a member of the Search Block that killed Escobar, was murdered a few months after the final operation against the drug trafficker in Medellin. Join host and “Exile” producer Alvaro Cespedes in this podcast, available in both English and Spanish. New episodes every Wednesday.
