It's Thanksgiving. What better day to discuss food podcasting?
I do enjoy cooking / culinary / food podcasts. Why? First, I learn a lot about the food I eat regularly. Second, because cooking is one of those hybrid activities that blends science and creativity. I'm not sure if I want to watch someone repair my dishwasher, but I am intrigued and entertained by someone cooking roasted eggplant caponata, veggie lasagna, and Mascarpone cheesecake with almond crust. Third, because foodies are typically fascinating people.
Some of my favorite food podcasts include Gastropod, The Sporkful, Maintenance Phase, Spilled Milk, and Be My Guest with Ina Gartin.
Author's note: I could listen to Stanley Tucci talk about anything, even his choice of garbage bags for the kitchen (LDPE, LLDPE, HPE).
So I'm excited and nervous about the announcement by Cumulus Media (Why does this always sound like a weather forecasting company?) that it has launched Hello Rossipes, a new weekly cooking podcast featuring TV host and producer Ross Mathews (“The Drew Barrymore Show,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race”) and cookbook author and podcaster Bethie Hungerford.
The show, launched November 8th, focuses on the friends’ mutual obsession with food and the “Rossipes” (recipes -- see what they did there?) Ross Mathews has created and prepared to lose 60 pounds, keep it off, and get healthy.
In case you didn't know, Ross Mathews
has been a staple on television for over two decades. Mathews can
currently be seen as the co-host (and producer) on season four of the daily syndicated talk show The Drew Barrymore Show and
as a judge (and producer) on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
I like Matthews. He's charming, funny, and smart, and is a natural showman.
High school bestie, fellow foodie, and iTunes top-ten food podcaster Hungerford joins Mathews in what Cumulus says will be "this informative podcast showcasing their all-time favorite recipes as well as lively conversation about the best things they have eaten all week and strategies to get and stay healthy."
Hungerford
has authored a cookbook Hungerpots that was published by Harper Collins
in 2020, been an i-Tunes top ten food podcaster, and been featured on
the Netflix cooking show “Crazy Delicious.”
I
didn't know Hungerford (How is this her real name?) but I checked her
out on social media and liked what I heard and read. Hungerford and
Matthews should make for a perfect combination, like a grilled cheese
sandwich and tomato soup.
The podcast is an extension of Mathews’ wellness website Rossipes.com.
A new episode of Hello Rossipes drops each Wednesday on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.
