A podcast about connections among people is a topic in which a large podcast network -- we're calling it iWontifyXM -- would hire an actor who starred on a network show 20 years ago and would host this new show with a script written and questions for the weekly guest already prepared.
Thankfully for listeners, an independent podcast called The Connectors employs that concept like a concert pianist, playing all the right notes in a pleasing harmony.
Co-hosts Jolyn Showalter and Quinten Sheriff can tell you about their podcast: "We explore the importance of making meaningful connections for personal and professional growth and happiness. We explore how building and recognizing strong connections in life can help you achieve your goals, find personal fulfillment, and how you can create opportunities to build a purposeful and fulfilling future."
The first episode was released in March 2023 with over 50 episodes produced and released so far.
In the hands of a large podcast network or co-hosts without a strong understanding of the concept of connections, a podcast like this could easily descend into new-age double talk.
However, Jolyn and Quinten had the input of a "reinvention expert," who is a professional who specializes in guiding individuals or businesses through significant personal or professional transformations, helping them to significantly change their image, career path, or approach to life, essentially "reinventing" themselves to adapt to new circumstances or pursue different goals; they often provide coaching, consulting, and strategic advice on how to manage this change effectively.
On the podcast, Jolyn Showalter and Quinten Sheriff create a sonic enclave where listeners can feast on the concept of cultivating a thriving community built on authenticity, growth, and the power of connection. It is obvious that they enjoy each other's company and their connection is strong and infiltrates the vibes of the show.
Jolyn says: "After a lifetime of feeling misunderstood, staying quiet, and searching for her tribe, I knew it was time to create my own space—one built on authentic connection."
The Connectors podcast was created to form a listening community where genuine connections can flourish in a world that too often feels disconnected and divided.
My favorite episodes include the August 23, 2024, show that focuses on the vital role of human performance in business success. While many companies invest in technology and office upgrades, true growth comes from investing in people.
Nurdan Tokoz, founder of Nurdanpinar Solutions for Human Performance, who spent over 20 years in Learning & Development within large corporations, launched her consulting business to help organizations fully utilize their workforce's potential.
In the episode, Nurdan Tokoz discusses the importance of building confidence in employees through growth opportunities, inclusivity, and respect. She emphasizes that a strong organizational culture, driven by a collective mindset, is essential for high performance.
Tokoz also explains how organizations can stay competitive by continuously adapting processes and systems, and she highlights the power of habit-building in sustaining change.
The co-host synergy of The Connectors podcast is positive with maximum flexibility. There are times when only Jolyn interviews a guest. On other episodes, Jolyn and Quentin interview a guest. Still other episodes have just them talking. I think that type of variability gives the podcast a sense of unpredictability, and that's a necessary trait to avoid listeners boredom and also podfade from the co-hosts.
Jolyn and Quentin define their podcasting goals as such: "We’re here to bring together voices, ideas, and stories that spark inspiration and build deeper relationships—whether it’s within yourself, your career, or your community. We’re passionate about helping our community of listeners through life’s big transitions, guiding them to find their tribe, and creating the kind of connections that don’t just feel good, but that have a lasting, meaningful impact."
Check out The Connectors podcast. The show and co-hosts have a fresh approach -- bringing people together instead of splitting them apart via artificially constructed political views, fabricated cultural value differences or extremist conspiracy theories. Jolyn Showalter and Quinten Sheriff are onto something. Instead of focusing on our differences, let's focus on connecting with each other.
