Cracked Open Podcast: Dealing With Moments Of Trauma

Here's what creator/host
Molly Carroll says about her show: "We all have moments in our lives when we are cracked open, brought to our knees, and have to really discover who we are authentically at our core. It could have been the death of a loved one, getting thrown in jail, being bullied in grade school, or hitting rock bottom with our addiction. Whatever your traumatic moment, it changed you forever in the way you live, parent, work, and connect to others."

Join Molly Carroll, a licensed therapist, TED speaker, published author, corporate speaker, and coach, as she shares the stories of actors, athletes, thought leaders, healers, teachers, and warriors and how their “cracking open” moment changed their lives — and will change yours too.

Carroll shares with listeners: "I love hearing about people’s lives, stories about their families and upbringings, and what made them who they are today. I am deeply curious. My husband often jokes that I learned more about his lifelong friend in an elevator ride than he knew after spending years with him. I love the underneath of the underneath of a story."

Carroll investigates those critical moments in our lives. The decisions we make. Cracking Open asks: What pulled you at 18 years old to take that volunteer trip to Africa instead of the senior trip to Mexico to drink tequila with friends? Why did you leave that six-figure corporate job to follow a dream of opening a barber shop for men who wanted to talk with other men about their mental health. How are you facing the grief of a loved one – a parent, a friend, or God-forbid, a child?

Carroll says: "After 30 years as a credentialed teacher, therapist, coach, and parent, I love knowing each of us longs for more. I love knowing that it not only takes uncovering our deep feelings and experiences, but ultimately, it takes connection to crack open and discover who we really are. It is easier to live in a world covered by the plastic of busyness, parenting, and over-giving. But this way of living is no way to live."

Carroll, as a host, is empathetic and earnest, showing genuine concern for her guests and their life stories and challenges. Her episodes have dealt with topics that range from grief to burnout, and addiction to love.

Cracking Open belongs to a growing cadre of podcasts that deal with trauma, life challenges, and epiphanies. Two other shows that excel in this genre are The Life Shift and Multispective

iHeart translates some of its podcasts into multiple languages

iHeartMedia has announced that some of its most popular podcasts are now available in multiple languages to listeners in new regions worldwide. Sometimes, big companies do good in the world.

Newly translated iHeartMedia-produced shows include “On Purpose with Jay Shetty,” “Revisionist History with Malcolm Gladwell,” “Stuff You Missed in History Class,” Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know,” “Before Breakfast with Laura Vanderkam,” “How to Money,” “Stuff to Blow Your Mind,” “Betrayal,” “The Girlfriends” and “Murder 101.” A selection of translated episodes will begin rolling out today and will become available in six widely spoken languages, including Spanish, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi, and Mandarin, with plans to expand to even more shows and languages in the future.

“We have been fortunate to build a huge global audience that continues to reach more people around the world every day. One of the questions I get asked most is, 'When will the podcast be in Spanish? When will it be in Hindi?' And now, not only those, but several more languages as well,” said Jay Shetty. “Expanding into more languages gives us the special opportunity to serve our audience better and bring these conversations to even more people. I truly believe this will deepen our impact, extend our reach, and push forward our mission to make the world happier, healthier, and more healed.”

“Global podcast listenership continues to rise, with podcast consumption significantly growing in regions such as Latin America, Europe, India and other parts of Asia,” said Conal Byrne, CEO of the iHeart Digital Audio Group for iHeartMedia. “Podcast translation is an exciting step forward as content continues to globalize, allowing us to bring our catalog of hit shows and talent to these regions, helping us reach new audiences and bring fresh, insightful content worldwide.”
