It goes like this: "Dandelions are resilient individuals who maintain their health and well-being regardless of external conditions. However, orchids are highly sensitive individuals who thrive in optimal, supportive environments but struggle in adverse conditions."
Root to Resilience creator/host Anupa Devi endeavors to turn orchids into dandelions.
Anupa says: "Welcome to the Root to Resilience, the award-winning podcast, where we
nurture your roots and help you grow into your strongest self. This podcast dives into practical tips, insightful
conversations, and personal stories designed to empower you to find
balance and resilience in today’s fast-paced world."
Anupa continues: "Together, we’ll
explore the mind, body, and soul connection, giving you the tools to
face life’s challenges and thrive. Because resilience isn’t just a
skill—it’s your superpower."
Root to Resilience is not a theoretical exercise, but more of an exploration of the mind, body, and soul connection, giving listeners the tools to
face life’s challenges and thrive. Throughout the show, there's a strong focus on actionable steps, instead of the celebrity-driven, new-age advice that is more fiction than fact.

Anupa Devi knows what she's talking about. She is a UK-based resilience coach, speaker, and podcaster helping people overcome limiting beliefs, build self-trust, and find purpose using storytelling, science, and spiritual wisdom for personal growth. She hosts workshops, offers 1:1 coaching, and speaks at events, empowering individuals to thrive through life's challenges by connecting mind, body, and soul.
Her show has a continuing thread that promotes imperfect action and taking bold steps over waiting for perfection. That call to action enables her podcast to stand apart from the celebrity-driven, network-supported shows where a celebrity gives advice on how to achieve success. Tim Ferris, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jay Shetty
The show's format is familiar with a guest in most episodes, with an episode length of about 45 minutes. Each episode begins with Anupa talking about the topic of the episodes and introducing the guest, while the intro music plays at a low volume level under the opening narrative. That tactic is used at the end of the show when the interview wraps up.
In one of my favorite episodes, Anupa is joined by Nyambe (Yam), founder of The Black Sherpa, for a grounded and compassionate conversation about staying resilient during a time of increasing social tension in the UK. Ear Worthy had actually reviewed his podcast in early 2024 and found Yam delightful and passionate about doing something about the lack of diversity in the corporate world.
Their conversation focuses on identity, migration, and belonging, as polarization and ostracism become stronger forces in the Western cultures. Anupa and Yam agree that, "Instead
of feeding division, we can respond with
clarity, compassion, and connection."
In an inspiring solo episode, Anupa shares the behind-the-scenes story
of launching Root to Resilience and growing it into an award-winning
podcast in just six months.
Root to Resilience is a Women’s Podcasters Award 2025 Winner - Personal Development Category.
From battling self-doubt to building
momentum with imperfect action, Anupa reveals the five biggest lessons
about resilience, courage, and authenticity learned on this incredible
journey.

Another solo episode I found invigorating was her March 11th show on Gratitude. First, it's a topic that's not discussed enough in Western societies, where entitlement seems to have sprouted like a weed. Second, Anupa gives listeners a neuroscience lesson, explaining your brain filters reality through the Reticular Activating System (RAS) and how you can train it for positivity. Anupa details how gratitude regulates emotions, and why it’s almost impossible to feel anger, stress, or anxiety while practicing gratitude. In line with her focus on practical solutions, Anupa offers ways that we can cultivate gratitude daily through easy, actionable exercises to help listeners rewire their focus for resilience.
Most of the hosts of these self-improvement shows have machine-gun deliveries, never taking a breath between syllables, trying to sell listeners a lifestyle, product, book, subscription, or elimination diet. They have an "Always On" switch that has triple redundancies for power to market.
In sharp contrast to that group, Anupa Devi can be best described as thoughtful, persuasive without the pushiness, professorial yet not pedantic, and knowledgeable without being a know-it-all.
Root to Resilience isn't the only podcast focused on a growth mindset, but it’s one of the best, and its independence demonstrates once again that anything in audio that large networks and celebrities can do, indie podcasters can do better. So many of these podcasts project the message, "I did it, so can you." By contrast, Anupa Devi communicates in a supportive tone, conveying the message,"Let me help you."
