Buzzworthy Radio: Podcasting With A Buzz!

NaVell Lee has lived in the shadow of the Delaware Memorial Bridge and has done so for his entire life. In podcasting terms, he is the most famous person from the area, eclipsing actor Bruce Willis from Carney's Point who, as far as we know, is almost 500 episodes behind Mr. Lee in podcasting experience.

NaVell J. Lee, a Signal Award-winning interviewer, developed and hosts The BuzzBuzzWorthy Radio, an award-winning entertainment media outlet and podcast that began in 2009.

The BuzzBuzzWorthy Radio has provided exclusive interviews, red-carpet coverage, and in-depth conversations with actors, filmmakers, and creators, covering TV festivals, awards season, and entertainment culture.

Creator/Host NaVell J. Lee has been recognized for providing in-depth, authentic conversations rather than typical press junket interviews.

The BuzzBuzzWorthy Radio covers TV, film, entertainment news, and industry trends, often highlighting behind-the-scenes stories and creators. The show also features content from major events such as SXSW and SBIFF.

His guest roster includes Ben Stiller, Harrison Ford, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and many more, earning him a reputation for warm, insightful conversations. Beyond the studio, Lee has covered major industry events, including the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards, San Diego Comic-Con, DGA Awards, PaleyFest and more.

Mr. Lee explains the show's origins: "I started The Buzz by sheer chance, as a friend/mentor, Roger Newcomb, said I should start a podcast as I loved to talk about television. I had no idea what a podcast was, as this was 2006, but once I learned how to start one, it was a medium I fell in love with. The reason why it began was because I watched (and still do) daytime soaps, and there wasn't an avenue at the time to interview the actors once SoapTalk on SOAPnet ended. I wanted to bring the fans their favorite actors with long-form conversation. As time passed, I would begin branching out into prime-time television and Film."

NaVell J. Lee is a veteran podcast host and interviewer with over two decades in internet radio and digital media. He began with the online radio drama Scripts & Scruples before transitioning into podcasting with The R&N Show (later In the Zone). He is the creator and host of BuzzWorthy Radio (“The BUZZ”), where, since 2007, he has conducted engaging, in-depth interviews with top talent across television, film, and pop culture.

A Silver Signal Award winner and Astra Award recipient, Lee continues to champion authentic storytelling and meaningful conversations. Mr. Lee’s coverage extends far beyond studio interviews. He reported from the Daytime Emmy Awards red carpet in 2009, began virtual coverage of the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022, and expanded his press access to major entertainment and fan conventions, including San Diego Comic-Con.

His work has earned significant recognition within the digital media world. Mr. Lee is a Silver Signal Award Winner in the Best Video Podcast – Guest category and a proud Astra Award winner, honoring excellence in independent podcasting. These accolades underscore nearly two decades of commitment to authentic storytelling and elevating the voices of television and film’s most compelling talent.

Outside the microphone, Lee enjoys bowling, traveling, and spending quality time with his friends and family.

On The BuzzBuzzWorthy Radio, NaVell Lee is in total command. His silky voice and jazzy intro music welcomes listeners to interviews that demonstrate time and time again how the expert interviewer handles a guest. Here, Mr. Lee excels, making his guest feel comfortable, asking smart, sometimes sharp, questions, and engaging with the guest as an equal. His interviews are so good that 90-minute shows aren't necessary. On The BuzzBuzzWorthy Radio, interviews last about 35 minutes.

Some of my favorite recent episodes include Why U.S. Soccer Took So Long to Break Through with Meghan Payne (VICE Media), Miriam Silverman on Theater, Storytelling, and Staying PresentWhat ‘Shrinking’ Gets Right About Growth, Grief, and Letting Your Guard Down with cast members Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, and Michael Urie. In this episode, Mr. Lee shows his interviewing chops, transforming what could be just a 'press junket' Q&A into an insightful interview each of the characters they actors play -- Liz, Derek, and Brian.

Mr. Lee also excels at red carpet coverage and interviews at big media events like SXSW. In March, In an exclusive interview from the SXSW Film Festival, he sat down with STAGES director Ryan Booth alongside stars Leslie Grace and David Ramirez to talk about their award-winning film, which took home the Best of Texas Award.

NaVell Lee clearly loves what he does. About podcasting, he observes: "What I love about this industry/medium is that the podcast community is so supportive, especially independent podcasters. We want to see each of us succeed in this industry, because we have a unique voice for topics that resonate with many people. There's always events or conversations within for us to learn how to monetize, improve the quality of craft, and potentially grow your show in and outside the medium."

NaVell Lee has been a dynamic force in the internet radio and podcasting landscape for over two decades. He has shown the pathway to success for other independent podcasters, excelled at reporting in the entertainment industry, and been a reliable, relatable, and engaging interviewer for decades. His work has earned significant recognition within the digital media world.

I think the State should name a rest stop after him on the New Jersey Turnpike!
