Crow's Feet: Life As We Age Podcast -- Gabbing with a Broadway Producer & Acclaimed Writer

ON THE JUNE CROW’S FEET: LIFE AS WE AGE PODCAST: DELVE INTO WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A TONY AWARD-WINNING BROADWAY PRODUCER, JUNE 10, WITH GUEST DARYL ROTH: ON JUNE 24, GET A GLIMPSE INTO THE MIND OF ACCLAIMED WRITER, ACTRESS AND “ACCIDENTAL INFLUENCER,” KATHRYN GRODY.

The 2022 American Community Survey estimated there were 55,892,014 people aged 65 and over in the U.S. out of a total population of 331,893,745, or 16.9%. More of us are living longer, and that's a good thing. Getting older is not for the faint-hearted, but it is a process that is inevitable.

Aging, however, also brings wisdom and humor, a finely-tuned perspective on life. In June's edition of Crow's Feet podcast, you’ll hear the voices of a Broadway producer and acclaimed writer who will inspire you and often make you laugh about this journey through life.

“One of the benefits of living in New Jersey is being close to New York,” says Broadway producer Daryl Roth, who developed her love of theater as a child growing up in New Jersey. Roth, who has won 13 Tonys and 8 Pulitzer prizes and is nominated this year for five additional Tony awards for Liberation, was drawn to the theater, and produced her first play in her mid-40s with no prior producing experience.

What followed is a successful career where “regret” is a word Roth says should be “best left out of our vocabulary.” Join Roth and host Nancy Franklin on June 10 for a delightful discussion about how to move through life, doing your best, and looking towards the future with gratitude. “After all,” as Roth says, “there’s no going back.”

On the June 24 podcast, actor, writer, and producer, Kathry Grody asks, “Why can’t we embrace this aging process?” Grody, who is also an “accidental influencer” on Instagram with husband, actor Mandy Patinkin, addresses growing older in her one-person show, The Unexpected Third: A Radical, Rollicking Rumination on the Optimism of Staying Alive.

From the invisibility and irrelevance of older people, to the joys that can be found in everyday existence, Grody and Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age podcast host Melinda Blau discuss the importance of maintaining relationships and being present, engaged, and creative. As Grody says, “You live a fuller life if you have some hopefulness and agency than if you live in cynicism and despair.”
