The Gay Podcast For Everyone: A Show For The LGBTQ Community & Its Allies

I recently listened to a Christian podcast that discussed obeying the Bible, specifically Leviticus 18:22 in The Bible, the verse people use as their excuse for condemning homosexuality. Of course, enforcement of Leviticus is selective by these people, given that this megachurch recently held a clam bake, despite the Leviticus restriction about eating shellfish. Or those same people ripping down rainbow flags and forgetting one of the main tenents of Leviticus: "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

The Gay Podcast For Everyone is an example of an advocacy show, and a show about gay culture and lifestyle. Given the darkening mood in this nation, it's a show that reaffirms the standing of those in the LGBTQ community.

The Gay Podcast for Everyone (formerly They Can't All be Betty) is a show hosted by Angela Briones that fosters inclusive conversations about the LGBTQ+ experience, featuring guests, coming out stories, and discussions designed for families and allies. It highlights personal journeys and promotes unconditional love.

It centers on conversations with LGBTQ+ individuals and parents to bridge understanding, and includes discussions on queer life, finding optimism, and connecting with the community. The show evolved from a previous title, They Can't All be Betty. The show bridges the gap between the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones through stories of acceptance.

In the intro to the show, Angela Briones says, "whether you're part of the LGBTQ community or an ally, welcome."

One of my favorite episodes is a recent one -- How Small Gestures Speak Volumes -- in this episode, Britt Barton (LGBTQ+ Mindset Coach) shares a story about how an unexpected gift from her grandmother made her feel seen, and how that gift impacted her coming out journey. Barton also shares her personal story of family expectations, embracing her identity, and becoming a role model for her LGBTQ+ family members.

Host Briones then discusses the power of small gestures. "As language evolves, so does our understanding of identity and of ourselves. The responsibility we have to the younger LGBTQ+ generations. This episode is a great reminder that when words fail us, or when we don't have the language to express ourselves, small gestures of acceptance can speak volumes. If you are struggling with how to have a conversation with your loved one, I hope Britt's story offers a message that acceptance doesn't have to come in grand gestures. It can be in the quietest forms, and in doing so, it can heal wounds and create bonds."

Angela Briones is the creator and host of The Gay Podcast for Everyone, a podcast that highlights the power of sharing stories of unconditional love and acceptance. She is also the creator and host of Thank You for Joining Me: Podcast Life Behind the Mic, a podcast that focuses on the mindset that helps keep podcasters showing up behind the mic. She is a writer, award-winning podcaster, and proud LGBTQ+ storyteller.

Angela Briones is an exceptional host, with the patience of Job for intolerance and a strong teaching mindset. For me, listening to her, I realize that she's much smarter and put-together than those who claim to oppose her lifestyle on religious grounds. She's the perfect steward for the show.

One of the episodes that exemplifies her optimism is from January 2025, when Angela Briones says: "Post-election, we're in a year that is very concerning regarding the rights of my LGBTQ+ community. I'm trying hard to hold space for things like joy and optimism and feel stronger than ever that visibility and allyship are vital."

So the host holds a conversation about optimism and allyship with Molly Lee, the owner of Optimistic Soap, an Asian-woman-owned business that makes and sells artisanal handcrafted soap with natural ingredients and also highlights various LGBTQ+ fundraisers through its business and products?

Optimistic Soap has witty names like Concepts of a Plan (named after a batch of soap that didn't go as planned) and includes an entire line of soaps focused on the LGBTQ+ community, like the popular Love Wins soap.

In this episode, the host and guest talked about everything from how Optimistic Soap started to why demonstrating visible allyship is so important, especially right now, and it can start with a little thing, like soap.

What I like and recommend about The Gay Podcast For Everyone is its creator/host Angela Briones and her insights into American culture, the show's thematic premise that the audience is not only LGBTQ people, but people who support the community, and the intellectual depth of its topics.

The podcast highlights that you do not have to fully understand the journey to choose unconditional love, aiming to help families through conversations and questions.
