Popcorn is a food specifically linked to moviegoing, or at least, Netflix and chill at home. Therefore, popcorn is a much-used, possibly overused adjective, in the titles of podcasts. There are several pop culture podcasts with popcorn in the title. Today, we will discuss one, which has plenty of sizzle. Some of the other shows are dry, but this show has plenty of butter on its popcorn.
Popcorn Dialogues is a pop culture podcast hosted by Nam and Rosh that features in-depth discussions on movies, television, and pop culture, including reviews of new releases and classic films. The podcast covers trending entertainment, such as Bridgerton season 4 and Oscar contenders. It also takes deep dives into film, TV shows (such as The Boys), and occasionally entertainment trends like BookTok.
The show starts with upbeat music -- Energetic Upbeat by Winnie The Moog -- then an introduction by the hosts, Nam and Rosh, two women who know how to keep the tempo upbeat, and the wit sustained. I could find no information about the co-hosts. I've listened to five episodes, and it has taken me this long to tell their voices apart. Nam and Rosh have solid co-host chemistry and work hard to entertain the audience.
The podcast tackles all the topics you'd suspect a pop culture podcast would. For example, the co-hosts release an episode about The Boys on Amazon Prime, focusing on seasons 2,3, and 4.
The co-hosts explain: "The Boys Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are a thrill ride with some dark moments. We dive deep into the chaotic and impactful moments of each season and discuss the increasingly unhinged rise of Homelander and Butcher’s fate along with the rest of the crew. In this episode we discuss the key characters and plot lines to get ready for The Boys Season 5!"
Then, the co-hosts follow up with The Boys, Season Five. The co-hosts tell us: "In this episode, we chat about The Freedom Camp escape, A-Train's fate, and the much anticipated return of Soldier Boy and what that means for Homelander and his plans."
In March, the co-hosts did a show about the 2026 Oscars, and speculated about possible contenders for 2027.
The co-hosts say: "This week, we’re all about the 2026 Oscars Race! The battle for the best actor between Michael b. Jordan and Timothee Chalamet has sparked some great conversations about who may or may not be ready or deserve the coveted award. Sinners is one of our faves of the year but so is One Battle After Another. Listen in to what we think about all of it, we guarantee some good laughs along the way."
The podcast began in July 2025, and the co-hosts have released over 20 episodes to date. Episodes average a little over an hour in length, and the show dedicates multiple episodes to popular streaming shows, having done so for The Boys, Bridgerton, and Stranger Things.
The show has a millennial vibe to it, with the co-hosts amping up the snark and keeping it casual. Pop Culture Happy Hour (PCHH) on NPR knows its audience and therefore tends to intellectualize pop culture art. I do commend PCHH for its brevity. At times with pop culture podcasts, the discussion seems to be intentionally extended to reach that one-hour mark. Not so with PPHH. Their episodes come in at about 17 to 25 minutes.
I think that the best episode so far of Popcorn Dialogues is the October 11th show titled, The Art of Adaptation. On that show, the co-hosts ask: "To Read or to Watch?" The episode takes a deep dive into all things screen adaptations. From Jane Austen classics like Pride and Prejudice and Emma, William Shakespeare’s tragedies and comedies, to the upcoming gothic sci-fi Frankenstein. The co-hosts encourage their audience to "listen to what we think and join in on the conversation!"
Popcorn Dialogues also knows that its audience is younger and more casual about popular culture, specifically brand-name streaming TV shows, and box office hits in the theater. The show capably addresses the needs of that audience and is an excellent pop culture podcast.
