Unsupervised with Syd And TP: Basketball, Brashness & Buoyant

  Podcasting has led the way in women's sports shows. Typically, TV has a woman on a sports show with several male co-hosts. Radio has made small strides. There are now numerous sports podcasts with women at the helm. That's especially pertinent when the show reviews women's' sport leagues like the WNBA. 

Unsupervised with Syd & TP is a popular, unscripted podcast hosted by WNBA players and best friends Syd Colson and Theresa Plaisance. It's known for its hilarious, off-the-cuff conversations, where the duo discusses everything from pop culture and reality TV to unhinged games and absurd conspiracy theories.

Syd Colson and Theresa Plaisance (TP) are both veteran WNBA players. Known for their vibrant personalities, they formed a deep friendship as teammates and bring that same locker-room humor and chaotic energy to the airwaves. Their show is produced in collaboration with Togethxr.

The podcast is often described as an "in-real-life text thread turned podcast," resembling a late-night group chat that intentionally goes off-topic. Typical episodes feature pop culture and debates, dissecting reality television drama or passionately debating bizarre conspiracy theories, such as whether pigeons are government spies. 

The co-hosts encourage listener interaction by answering listener voicemails with surprisingly thoughtful, albeit highly unconventional, life advice. The co-hosts also play unhinged Games, which are quirky, custom games made specifically for the show.

The co-hosts smartly manage their show. For example, on the June 25th episode, they played a compilation of some of their favorite segments, from WNBA Queer Baiting, Syd's car running out of gas and getting asked on a date (by a man), standing ten toes down for Megan Thee Stallion, and a warning from Syd's mom.

The co-hosts can wander away from sports topics as demonstrated by a recent episode where they discussed pubic hair. 

 Last month, Horizon Sports & Experiences (HS&E), a global sports marketing, media and live experiences agency, and TOGETHXR, the fastest-growing and most popular women’s sports media company of its kind, announced new audio, video and event programming for IX to Five —  the game-changing joint venture built to supercharge the business of women’s sports, founded earlier this year. 
IX to Five will be hosted by the co-hosts of Unsupervised with Syd and TP, Sydney Colson and Theresa Plaisance, as a fresh addition to its growing content slate.

Colson and Plaisance join previously announced fan-favorite talent: the StudBudz, professional basketball players Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, and Lily Shimbashi, founder of Sportsish, under the IX to Five umbrella. 

Through the partnership, IX to Five will also take Unsupervised with Syd and TP on the road for live show recordings and in-person experiences that bring the show’s audience community, the self-proclaimed “Babysitters,” to connect with Syd and TP both digitally and in the real world this summer. 

From reviews and chatter, fans of the show seem to enjoy that it's a wonderfully chaotic and lighthearted escape.
