International Podcast Day is celebrated on September 30

International Podcast Day is an annual global celebration held on September 30th to recognize the power, innovation, and community of podcasting. Founded in 2014 as National Podcast Day in the U.S. by Steve Lee, it expanded the following year internationally to embrace the worldwide podcasting community. It connects listeners, independent creators, and industry leaders while raising awareness of audio storytelling and new media technologies.
Since 2014, the International Podcast Day team has focused on showcasing independent podcasting talent worldwide and raising awareness of a growing industry. From day one, this celebration has focused on creating a lively event the podcasting industry could rally around. Without question, the podcasting community has organically grown International Podcast Day into something much bigger than anyone could have ever imagined. The community’s creativity has been nothing less than spectacular and inspiring.
On September 30th, listen to a podcast, but, more importantly, donate to an independent podcaster.
Sweet And Savre

What’s This Podcast About: Sweet and Savre is a weekly interview podcast hosted by actress, director, and storyteller Danielle Savre (pronounced “savory”). The podcast features real, uncurated conversations with women from diverse walks of life—including film sets, military deployments, kitchens, and courtrooms. The goal is to explore each guest’s journey, triumphs, heartbreaks, and turning points rather than just focusing on their job titles.
Every episode concludes over a meal of the guest’s choice (ranging from sour gummies to a heavy meal), ending with the signature question: does the guest prefer sweet, savory, or a combination of both?
Listeners can tune in weekly to hear bold, inspiring women reveal the “sweet and savory” moments — the triumphs and the messy, painful setbacks — that shaped their lives. The show is intentionally crafted to feel like sitting down with your closest friends. Danielle Savre and her guests break down heavy barriers, discussing topics like industry bias, grief, motherhood, and career pivots with absolute vulnerability.
Rather than focusing solely on traditional celebrity status, the show features women whose lives and roads traveled truly matter. Guests include behind-the-scenes Hollywood powerhouses (like line producers and costume designers), military veterans, and artists.
Danielle has heavily engaged her audience across the Sweet and Savre YouTube channel, TikTok clips, and a dedicated Patreon page. This approach gives fans access to behind-the-scenes content and unedited thoughts that enhance the feeling of community
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast:
Creator/Host: Danielle Savre is an American actor and director best known for starring for seven years as Maya Bishop in the ABC firefighter drama series Station 19. In 2021, she co-wrote and directed the award-winning short film HEARD, which led to her television directorial debut on Station 19. She most recently narrated the audiobook This Is a Safe Space by Lucinda Berry for Simon Audio.
What I love about the show: Actor and director Danielle Savre has combined raw, unfiltered storytelling with the comforting, intimate setting of a shared meal. I love how Savre (again pronounced savory) uses her name to reinforce the central theme of her show. Savre is an excellent, engaged interviewer who doesn’t skim but asks more of her guests.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: Episode 7 — Taylor Kottke: Leaving Sabrina Carpenter to Bet on Myself. On this show, Danielle sat down with actress and filmmaker Taylor Kotke for a raw, unfiltered look at life. From the acting scams of her youth to the high-pressure world of music management for Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor pulls back the curtain on it all. They dive into the surreal Black Widow stunt-training incident that almost went wrong and discuss the terrifying yet liberating decision to walk away from a lucrative career path for her own peace. It is a candid conversation about the reality of making it, the grind of indie filmmaking, and the radical bravery required to choose happiness over someone else’s vision of success.
Accidental Activist

What’s This Podcast About: It’s a new podcast mini-series that explores what inspires ordinary people to Stand Up Against Injustice.
The mini-series asks: What turns an ordinary person into an activist?
These are stories of individuals who responded to inequality, discrimination, environmental harm, violence, or injustice in their communities and discovered the power of collective action. Their experiences demonstrate that you do not need a particular qualification, title, or profession to become an advocate for change. All it takes is a willingness to act.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: The audience of The Activist Lawyer Podcast. Actual activists; people who want to become activists; people who support activists, and people who back up their beliefs with action.
Creator/Host: Well-known human rights advocate and author Brian Dooley and solicitor and human rights campaigner Sarah Henry, a solicitor, human rights advocate and host of the Activist Lawyer Podcast, explore that question in Accidental Activist, a new four-part mini-series from The Activist Lawyer Podcast, sponsored by Humanitas Media.
What I love about the show: First, we need activists right now in the U.S. Americans have seen their right to vote curtailed, the freedom to control their reproductive rights eliminated, the right to object to the government met with arrests and lawsuits, and widespread censorship from the group that whined endlessly about cancel culture. This show promotes and encourages activism.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: Episode One, when Johanna Nejedlová, co-founder of Konsent, shares the story behind one of Europe’s most influential consent education initiatives.
Simmer Down

What’s This Podcast About: Simmer Down is designed to make climate change relevant to people who may not think it affects their everyday lives — aka climate skeptics and those not currently listening to climate change conversations.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: Not just for climate skeptics, but for climate believers who want to know what they can do. The show takes a nonpartisan, non-political approach to climate change conversations; renowned experts serve as the voices of reason to explore the questions that come up around our kitchen tables.
Creator/Host: Kathleen Biggins, founder and president of C-Change Conversations
What I love about the show: The show helps listeners understand how climate change will impact them personally. It’s not theoretical. It’s how climate change will affect your life on a daily basis.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: I am waiting for this episode: Is it getting too hot to play the sports we love? With sports ecology expert Walker Ross of the University of Edinburgh. That’s when climate deniers will wake up when their favorite football team can’t play in 110 degrees Fahrenheit / 38 degrees Celsius heat.
Lead With Your Voice

What’s This Podcast About: The “Lead With Your Voice” podcast is hosted by Regina Larko and focuses on voice leadership, authentic communication, and podcasting. The podcast focuses on sounding like yourself rather than trying to sound perfect, and explores how to use your voice with courage, confidence, and intention in business, everyday life, and podcasting.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: Indie podcasters, people who communicate for a living, public speakers, people who want to improve their public speaking skills (That’s all of us), and those who want authenticity.
Creator/Host: Regina Larko, born in Vienna, Austria, advocates for authentic communication. She received a Master’s in Sinology at the University of Vienna. On the show, her tagline is: “It’s not about sounding perfect. It’s about sounding like you.”
What I love about the show: I love his show because our voice is indistinguishable from our identity. Regina Larko can help people find that authentic voice, speak with sincerity, and communicate with confidence and clarity. In an age where politicians lie daily, this skill is integral to avoiding the mass chaos of confirmation bias.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: July 6th show — Building a Relationship with Your Voice. In that episode, Regina says: “I recently looked back at my podcast analytics. Not just the download numbers, but the comments, the messages, and the moments where people stayed with me the longest. And I noticed something. The episodes that resonated most weren’t the ones filled with podcasting strategies or technical advice…but more about leadership, identity, and why our relationship with our own voice is never really finished.”
