Fishwives Of Paris

What’s This Podcast About:
Fishwives of Paris flips the table on French food mythology and serves the real stories behind your favorite cuisine, with culinary journalist Emily Monaco and wine expert Caroline Fazeli. Blending history, comedy, and culture, each episode of Fishwives of Paris examines a culinary myth, legend, or trope to reveal the truth behind France’s favorite dishes, products, and culinary personalities.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: Foodies, French food fans, food history fans, and those who enjoy a little humor with their French cuisine.
Creator/Host: Caroline Fazeli is the founder of Lyon Wine Tastings, which offers intimate wine experiences in a stunning former silk factory—a space fans might recognize as the podcast’s set. Emily Monaco holds a Master’s degree in 19th-century French literature, a background that sharpened not only her language skills but her eye for story, myth, symbolism, and what gets lost — or added — when we talk about heritage and tradition.
What I love about the show: How much fun Caroline and Emily make it! You get caught up in their genuine excitement and curiosity! The myths they debunk are often ripe with misinterpretation, have weird origin stories, and so much of it is manufactured, but the Fishwives keep your French cravings (and curiosities) fed with rigorous research and intellectual honesty. The show blends history, comedy, and culture to examine culinary myths, legends, and tropes, revealing the truth behind France’s favorite dishes, products, and culinary personalities.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: Is French Cheese Doomed? Climate Change Threatens Comté and Beaufort. Record heat and historic drought are forcing France’s most protected cheeses to break their own rules. Caroline and Emily unpack how the AOP charters for Comté, Beaufort, and Abondance have been temporarily loosened after historic drought hit the Alps and Jura. They explain what changes when cows eat grain and hay instead of mountain grass, why terroir shapes the flavor, and what happened to producers like Salers, who could not adapt in time.
Things are getting serious with climate change if cheese is threatened!
The Evenfall Hollow Board of Tourism

What’s This Podcast About: Evenfall Hollow Board of Tourism is a bi-weekly audio-fiction podcast created, written, produced, and edited by Ruu McKinney, with production by Windborne Press. The show follows host Phil and his production assistant, Paul, as they report on the strange goings-on, local events, and quirky residents of the fictional town of Evenfall Hollow.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast:
Creator/Host: Ruu McKinney is a long-time automotive and fiction writer. After living in some of the country's largest cities, Ruu moved to a tiny rural town in the mountains of Arkansas, leading to a variety of strange encounters and unusual experiences. These experiences helped to create the world of Evenfall Hollow.
This show is Ruu’s first foray into voice acting and audio editing, both of which have been incredible learning experiences.
What I love about the show: The core of the story is a slice-of-life view of host Phil Liota’s life as he interacts with the various cryptids, paranormal occurrences, and mysteries that fill the town. Why is he the only one who notices the town's weirdness and inconsistencies? Why can’t anyone remember where they were before waking up at the bus stop outside town? Why can’t anyone leave? Why does the Moth-man teach a spin class?
If you enjoy Widow’s Bay on Apple TV, then you’ll love this show.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: Start at the beginning — episode one from March 2025. Do you need a break from the hectic pace of modern life? Do you just need to unplug for a while? Why not visit Evenfall Hollow? We have leaves, a dog park, and a cat named Muffin who can foretell your death. Women Under Pressure

What’s This Podcast About: This new podcast is for ambitious women who want to succeed at a high level without allowing the demands of their work to cost them their health, relationships, or sense of self. The podcast launched on September 15 with its first three episodes.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: Women Under Pressure is for high-performing women working in healthcare, emergency services, leadership, and other demanding roles that require sustained judgment. They can handle a crisis and be the person everyone relies on, yet the day's pressure can follow them home.
Creator/Host: Kristen Plake brings 20 years of experience in healthcare and mental health to Women Under Pressure, along with a personal understanding of frontline life as the daughter of a police officer. Her clinical work centers on trauma, burnout, and the cumulative effects of careers that require people to repeatedly manage crisis, responsibility, and uncertainty. That experience led her to found Frontline Wellness Group, a virtual therapy practice that provides trauma-informed care for first responders, frontline professionals, and others impacted by demanding work.
What I love about the show: Rather than focusing on burnout only as the point when someone can no longer function, the podcast looks at the space many high-achieving women live in long before that: still performing and getting it done, while quietly feeling less and less like themselves. Through solo episodes and conversations with experts and women in demanding careers, the show explores why the effects of pressure can remain after the immediate demands have passed, and what can actually help women recover without becoming less ambitious or stepping away from work they
care about.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: How To Identify Functional Freeze: The Cost of Putting Yourself Second — This episode unpacks everything you need to know about functional freeze, or what happens when women keep performing at a high level while feeling depleted, numb, or disconnected internally. Kristen looks at why this happens, why it can feel so confusing, and why “just resting” or “trying harder” doesn’t fix it.
Not Just A Terrible Story

What’s This Podcast About: Not Just a Terrible Story is an independent, six-part investigative narrative podcast hosted and produced by Syd Gladu and Katy Klein. The show is a deeply personal, six-part investigative series that follows one woman’s search for the truth when a long-held family story — starting with producer Syd Gladu’s mother — begins to unravel. Stacie Love married her former high school teacher, believing it was a whirlwind romance. Two decades later, a federal search and a hidden investigation exposed a much darker reality about her husband’s past. The series explores educator sexual misconduct, institutional complicity, and how predators were shielded for decades.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: true-crime fans.
Creator/Host: Katy Klein and podcast producer Syd Gladu. Katy Klein has produced and worked on shows like Path Forward Leadership (with Jim Hessler), What the Hack with Adam Levin, Microsoft’s Pivotal (with Hayete Gallot), The Tunnel of Truth (which won MarCom Gold and AVA Digital Gold awards).
What I love about the show: Developed over two years of independent reporting without traditional network backing or institutional funding, the creators held the project to rigorous journalistic standards.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: Start with episode one.
Awf The Record

What’s This Podcast About: Awf The Record is a digital society and culture podcast hosted by journalists and media professionals Mona Kosar Abdi and Jeannette Reyes. Billed as a show that lives “between the news of the day and the group chat,” the podcast features candid, unfiltered conversations with industry disruptors, cultural tastemakers, and special guests.
Who Will Enjoy This Podcast: While the target audience seems to be African American women, this show has a wider appeal. The co-hosts showcase their media backgrounds with finely tuned chemistry, journalistic chops, and strong interviewing skills.
Creator/Host: Mona Kosar Abdi is an award-winning journalist and TV host, and Jeannette Reyes is a former TV news anchor and content creator. Together, they left traditional newsrooms to build a community centered on raw discussions about adulthood, media, lifestyle, career pivots, and pop culture. Mona Kosar Abdi and Jeannette Reyes use their background as TV news anchors and journalists to host candid, unfiltered conversations.
What I love about the show: I enjoy the wide range of topics. Episodes range from deep dives into modern etiquette, body image, and relationships to behind-the-scenes pop culture commentary and personal confessions. Plus, the co-hosts are charming and fun to listen to/watch. The studio is plush, and the video quality is excellent.
Recommended Episode to start listening with: My favorite episode is the September show about Wendy Williams. The co-hosts sat down with former Wendy Williams producer Norman Baker for an inside look at one of daytime television’s most unforgettable cultural eras. Norman opened up about moving to New York with $100, getting his start as a receptionist, earning Wendy’s trust on and off camera, and watching the show become a place where pop culture, gossip, shade, and Black womanhood collided in real time.
Norman also reflects on the show's final seasons, the limbo the staff experienced when Wendy could no longer return, and why he has chosen not to participate in certain documentaries about her.
